Working at an online-only news company meant I had deadlines throughout the day; I am comfortable writing under pressure, to real-time deadlines. Dec 2009 - Jan 2010 Shanghai Media Group TV News Writer In this position I was responsible for writing stories about domestic issues in China as well as China's role in international politics. It offered a valuable chance to understand the working practices of journalists in China. 2006 - current BBC, CNN and others Freelance Journalist My freelance work has allowed me to report culture, entertainment and the arts throughout the world. I have met world-famous artists, attended festivals from Norway to Texas and have done so only through my own organisation and planning. QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS AND ATRIBUTES

Breaking an original news story drives me: I strive to achieve this whenever possible. My past experience lies mainly in written news, and as such my writing skills are excellent. I have experience, training and am proficient working with Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Soundslides, Audacity, SLR cameras, professional news video cameras and audio recorders. I am adept at contacting difficult sources and know how to handle situations to acquire information needed for a story. My Chinese (Mandarin) is strong enough for me to converse with new contacts and sources; I can make enough conversation in Chinese to put sources at ease and gain trust. My language skills also allow me to better understand events and my surroundings, and add a great deal to my ability to break news.
