RADIANT CONDUCTS PEER EDUCATORS’ TRAINING Another dramatic training consisted of selected peer educators from Board 1 and 2, Araromi-Aje, Orisaye, Ajipowo and Origere camp, was organized by Radiant for consecutive 3 days. The highly interactive training which held from 16th-18th February,2012,sought to provide participants with adequate knowledge on

HIV prevention program.

Interestingly, participants turned out in large number and showed readiness to learn in the course of the training. All the topics covered at the previous training were equally treated during this training. Having equipped them with requisite knowledge and skills to aid in facilitating transfer of HIV prevention messages to their respective peers, 34 peer

educators were successfully trained and thereby deployed to start their peer education sessions with immediate effect.

RADIANT LIBRALITY REMOVES BARRIER OF THE BLIND It is yet another feather to the cap of Radiant Hope Initiatives the effort made to remove the barrier to the educational dream of Mr. Elijah Adebiyi, a 30 years old blind young man. Aside blindness, abject penury had deprived him of educational privilege. Interesting to note is the young man’s desire to begin primary one despite his age. When he came to RHI’s Office and tabled his constraint, he was aired in our charity program on Adaba Radio.

Pastor Oshidi Pledged to sponsor his educational pursuit and to provide all necessary things to be required for his schooling.

What a gesture! Success song of such, Radiant Hope will continue to sing, more so the heart of

gratitude attending the hand of generosity had been the force behind the rhythm. Every beneficiary had always wanted to say a big thank you to every benefactor. It is delightful to state here that lately, Mr. Elijah has been given N 26,000 and has registered in Primary one to begin his educational career.

A BENEFICIARY OF RHI ASSISTED SCHEME Mrs. Ronke Dauda, a mother of two, and a native of Oka lost her first husband to an ugly North Crisis some years back. RADIANT TURNS A PATHETIC CONDITION AROUND All other wives of the , late husband bore him children except only her. She lamented that she had pregnancy for 12 different times but lost them to miscarriage and eventually the only child she had died. A TOUCH OF CARE FROM RADIANT HOPE INITIATIVE

Mrs. Bamitale Abanli Amuda, a seasoned hairdresser, as well as a native of Supare Akoko, woke up only to discover that she couldn’t see with her eyes one fateful day. She has a daughter whose name is Amuda Opeyemi; this little girl of 6 hasn’t started schooling, she lamented.

Worse still, her husband had

deserted her alongside the little girl in connection with her predicament. It was gathered that this ugly incidence started four years ago and effort to make her regain her sight by going to several hospitals and other religious centers yielded no desired result. Since then she barely makes end meet. Her visit to our head office in Akure, informed the decision to air her story in our Charity Programme on Adaba Radio with a singular aim of intimating the public with the story. Interestingly, we cannot but mention a philanthropist, Brig.

General Femi (rtd) from Supare Akoko, who has been given financial aid to the said woman before

now; on reaching him, we (RHI) appreciated his gesture to her and also seized the opportunity to tell him that we intend to buy her Freezer to start selling Sachet water and soft drinks for her sustenance, and make sure her daughter begins school. He therefore pledges to give financial support to this effect. A benefactor has donated money through RHI for the little girl to start schooling, and equally RHI supports the family with foodstuff and cloths and promises to take care of the girl education up to secondary level.

RADIANT HOPE INITIATIVE IMPACTS A FAMILY Mrs. Monisola Faloye whose son’s name is Adeoye Busayo, visited our head office in Akure, for financial assistance, to enable her only son go to driving school.

In our exclusive interview with her, she lamented her financial incapacity to fend for her son in this regard. Therefore, Radiant

did not only give her the money for the school but also made deliberate effort at ensuring her son started the school with immediate effect. Obiviously, Adeoye Busayo stands the chance to cater for himself as well as his aged mother through his profession.

GROUPS’ PRESENTATION BY PARTICIPANTS Another thing worth noting is the grand style with which participants were divided into 3 groups such as “Water melon”, “Papaya” and “Banana” group. To this end, each group was given respective topics earlier treated at the training to discuss and later present to the entire group. The excellent

performance of the said groups during their presentations is a function of the high level of their assimilation on every session of the training; this indeed made the training highly interactive and participatory.

HCT CONDUCTED BY ODSACA The climax of the trainings came when a team of ODSACA led by Mr. Kolawole Desmond Folorunsho, dramatically and convincingly prepared the mind of the participants as well as counseled them to make informed decisions; particularly those who were keenly interested to know their HIV status. Not less than 70 participants successfully had their HIV counseling and Testing (HCT) at the end of the trainings. Mrs. Remi Oluborode, the Executive Director of RHI, while speaking in the event, appreciated ODSACA for the indelible role played in the course of the training, and therefore humbly prays for further collaboration in the nearest future

RADIANCE OF HOPE AT RHI END OF THE YEAR PARTY It was a radiance of hope as Radiant Hope Initiatives celebrated her end of the year party last December. A lot of people flocked the office of the organisation to felicitate with the staff and management. At the climax of the event , Mrs Oluborode seized the opportunity to sensitize the people present on HIV/AIDS prevention programme of the organization.

Amidst side attractions, several gift items were made available to the less privileged. Those who came were radiated with joy as they all went home with food items, cloths and cash gifts.
