pursued Research and Graduate Studies on Southeast Asian History and Geography at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. ALL of Caring’s efforts to provide for and support her five children also brought honor to the Aldecoa clan to which she belonged. In 1974, she was listed in the Directory of Selected Scholars and Researchers in Southeast Asia. Two years later, she was listed in the Directory of Graduate Manpower in the Philippines by the Graduate Educational and Research Foundation. In 1989, she appeared in Asia’s Who’s Who of Men and Women of Achievement. IN 1982, the Toyota Foundation of Japan asked Caring to write a book on the history of Negros Oriental which necessarily included the war years. She agreed only if she would be allowed to write about the Japanese occupation truthfully and factually. Hence, a year later, her four volumes on THE HISTORY OF NEGROS ORIENTAL was published. In 2000, she proceeded to write and publish MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF NEGROS ORIENTAL. A year later, she wrote and published THE HISTORY OF DUM AGUE TE CITY. CAR IDAD ALDEC OARODRIGUEZ was awarded the Negros Oriental Centennial Endeavor Award on January 1, 1990; the Golden Anniversary Outstanding Dumagueteño Award in November 24, 1998; and the Outstanding Sillimanian Award in August 2001 during the University’s Centennial Year. MOTHER, Teacher, Author, Administrator, Academician, Active Church Leader, and Friend. Caring is survived by her children Gene Ray, Ricardo, Jr., Eloise May, Annabelle, and Fe; in-laws Delbit, Rosalinda, Jose, Jr., Asgar, and Godwin; Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her brother Venancio, Jr., and sisters Hope and Beatriz; nephews and nieces.
