Kenneth Zeitler, M.D., medical oncolo-

gist at Rex Hematology Oncology Associates, recently retired and joined the Rex Healthcare Foundation team. As the Cancer Hospital Development Officer, Dr. Zeitler will work to raise funds and develop programs for the new North Carolina Cancer Hospital at Rex.

Dr. Zeitler has been a physician at Rex

Healthcare for 28 years and has been named one of the “Best Doctors in America” for eight consecutive years. Dr. Zeitler’s past commitments include training the next generation of providers as a clinical professor of medicine at the UNC School of Medicine.

At Rex, he has previously served as Presi-

dent of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee, Chairman of the Transfusion Committee, Chairman of the Oncology Service Line Committee, Chairman of the Cancer Care Committee, Medical Director of the Rex Cancer Center and Co-chair for the 2011 Rex Hospital Open. Dr. Zeitler’s passion for oncology care has inspired students and community members. He and his wife, Joyce, established an endowment in his name at the Rex Healthcare Foundation to further fund innovative and educational opportunities at Rex Cancer Center.
