documents gathered by the ingenious Rev. Modesto Perestrello Barros de Carvalhosa (1846-1917), a singular contribution to the Protestantism Historiography. Based upon Walter Benjamin’s principles: “nothing that happened can be taken as lost to History”, we present the text as a contribution to the study of micro-history in which the events and the facts are as important as the protagonists. In this first number of our publication we offer to the reader the diplomatic edition of The Pastoral Report of Rev. Ashbel Green Simonton, which was presented to the Presbytery of Rio de Janeiro on 10th of July 1886, handwriting by Modesto Carvalhosa.
