Argentina and Uruguay announced a new campaign to dredge the Río de la Plata, they have agreed to deepen the Martín García channel, which will increase the traffic of ships. The Office of the President of Uruguay informed about it after the country’s foreign minister, Rodolfo Nin, met with his Argentinian counterpart Susana Malcorra, who jointly will open a dredging bid process to deepen the channel to 34 feet (10.36 meters) and 38 feet (11.58 meters) on solid grounds. Currently, based on information from the Office of the Present of Uruguay, dredging is been carried out at 32 feet and 34 in solid ground areas.
Argentina y Uruguay dragarán Río de la Plata
Argentina y Uruguay anunciaron una nueva campaña de dragado para el Río de la Plata acordando profundizar el canal Martín García, lo que permitirá aumentar el tránsito de buques. La Presidencia de Uruguay lo informó luego de que el canciller de ese país, Rodolfo Nin, se reuniera con su par trasandina Susana Malcorra, quienes licitarán el dragado a 34 pies (10.36 metros) de profundidad y a 38 pies (11.58 metros) en suelos duros. Actualmente, según la Presidencia uruguaya, se realizan tareas de dragado a 32 pies y 34 en zonas duras. Redacción CIP
