The Fusion story began in 2008 when we started to imagine how hotels and resorts would look if they didn’t follow everyday principles. “What if we could make the world a happier and healthier place at the same time?” we asked. The all-spa-inclusive concept - the first of its kind in Vietnam - was born. Having shaken off the fuss, formality, and routine of traditional hotels and resorts, Fusion also delivers a more down-to-earth style of hospitality. |

VENICE YO U R M O ST LOVED VACAT IO N D EST INAT IO N? I feel like I should choose somewhere more glamorous, but I really love Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I think there’s something very sexy about Mexico. A quick flight and you’re on the beach in your bikini drinking margaritas. I also think Venice, Italy is the most romantic city in the world (more so than Paris) and I recommend everyone go once during the Festival of the Redeemer to see the out-ofthis-world golden fireworks over the Grand Canal.

O N YO U R T R AVEL B U CK ET L IST ? I have a few! Japan, Ireland, The Pyramids in Egypt, The Maldives, Hotel Bybles SaintTropez, Mustique, and La Fontelina in Capri. The last two are recommendations from my sister’s travels, of whom I am very jealous! YOU R AIR PO RT STY L E? I always wear a black or white crew neck silk t-shirt when traveling because I have sensitive skin, and I want something soft protecting me from the irritating, dry air. If it’s a short flight, I might wear jeans. As for shoes, I love slip-on boots or zip-up hi-top sneakers. And lastly, I always have a jacket or sweatshirt for warmth. A black hoodie is always cute. H OW D O YO U G ET R EADY F OR A B EACH HO L IDAY ? A couple of musts for me before a beach holiday are a spray tan the day before. My legs just look better with a tan. And I make sure my Keratin treatment on my hair is up to date and I get a blowout. I have super wild hair, and it makes it more manageable in humidity if the keratin is fresh. WH AT S W IM W EAR T R END I S A M U ST T HIS S EAS O N? I’ve always liked a strapless bandeau when it comes to swimwear. I’m fair and freckly, and I can burn if I’m not careful, so I find that’s the best way to avoid tan lines.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST HAIR COLOUR FOR YOUR COMPLEXION? Hair colour should always compliment your skin tone. If you’re quite fair, with cooler undertones (a lot of pink, blue or red undertones in your complexion), you want your hair colour to help minimize any redness in your skin. Warmer or golden hair colours look flattering on light skin with cool undertones, so go for golden blondes, warm reds or neutral brunettes that will help counterbalance your pink skin tone and complement your face. For warmer undertones go for hues that are cool, ashy or have reddish tones, like honey or strawberry blondes, golden copper, cool beige brown and rich brunettes. WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST COLOUR TRENDS THIS SEASON? A lot of my clients have been requesting to go blonder for the summer. My brunettes are asking for baby highlights, to subtly lighten their hair and have it a bit sun-kissed.

CHRISTOPHE ROBIN, Shade Variation Mask Warm Chestnut, $17

First you need to know what skin tone you are. Are you warm, cool or neutral? From there you can decide what colour is going to complement your tone. Often clients want to enhance their eye colour or distract for unwanted skin tones... you may need to refine or neutralize unwanted tones that may already be in the hair.

pastel starfish For this ultra-feminine look, apply splashes of shades of baby blue and pastel green pulled all the way up to the brows. Next apply a bright blue mascara for a monochromatic look followed by a pale frosty-pink lip gloss.

a modern barbarella Deep smoky blue eyes with a touch of sparkle - bronzed cheeks, a pale sheer pink lip look fresh with a bold navy smoky eye. A touch of bright blue sparkle gives a sexy look.

avant-garde Bold blue lips are something you would see in a Nicki Minaj music video, but I think the world is ready for this bold beauty statement. Many beauty Brands have introduced blue lipstick and glosses into their collections whether it’s a pale, metallic or bold shade of blue it’s all about your personal style and message to the world. For this look, think sporty-chic, ready to go from a jet ski in the high seas to the beach bar.

You’ve finalised everything from flowers and invitations to dresses and suits. Now all that’s left to get in order - is you! Preparing for a wedding can be stressful and certainly take its toll on your skin. Many brides suffer from breakouts, lack luster skin tone and dullness as well as discolouration and pigmentation. Leaving your skin woes to the last minute can cause even more stress and in turn make the skin look even worse. Dedicating time and efforts into your skin to show off that wedding day glow is just as important as finding the perfect bouquet. Luckily there are so many options to help you on your way. We asked Dr. Kate Jameson, Cosmetic Physician and the Medical Director of Youth Lab, Australia’s premier medical aesthetics clinic, the perfect skin solutions to get you glowing and picture perfect for your special moment.

YO U R T R E AT M E N T T I M E L I N E 12 MONTHS Preparation is key here. 12 months is the perfect time to commit to your wedding skin and start investigating options. The first step is to consult with your skin therapist or cosmetic doctor to establish your bespoke wedding plan. If you have any major skin concerns such as pigmentation, redness, acne, scarring, fine lines or wrinkles, this is the best time to address them. Treating these skin conditions takes time, and treatments generally require multiple sessions with cumulative effects and come with a little recovery down time. Committing early will result in much less stress leading up to the big day and also prevent that extra stress wreaking havoc on your skin. This too is the best time to put an effective home skin care routine into practice. Results will be further enhanced when you feed your skin high quality, active ingredients that work in synergy with clinic treatments and achieve a balance within your skin. We always recommend starting on a retinol such as Cosmedix Serum 16 as well as a hydrating serum such as PCA Skin Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum.

6 MONTHS The big day is slowly creeping closer and by this stage your major skin concerns will be addressed and confidence will be increasing. Now is the perfect time to look into cosmetic injectables. Even for someone who has never had cosmetic injectables, such as wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers, now is a great time to give them a go. Anti-wrinkle injections do not have to result in a frozen or fake appearance and tiny doses with precise injecting can result in a smoother complexion, with a softening and mattefying effect to the skin. Your makeup on the big day will be easier and smoother to apply, resulting in a photo ready finish. Dermal fillers such as cheek and lip enhancement can also be used to enhance your beauty and naturally sculpt your features. Small volumes will look natural and your skin and lips will appear more hydrated and subtle. This is also a good time to begin any injectable treatments as the effect of wrinkle relaxers only last 3 to 4 months so if the treatment is not for you then you will be back to normal at your big day. This then allows up to do your second treatment one month before your wedding to ensure the correct dose and result (as you would have had the practice run already). Ultimately the sooner you start the better as this gives plenty of time for any fine lines to soften and smooth out. 6 months is also the perfect time to look at laser and light treatments, to allow plenty of time for healing as well as for results to become evident by the big day. For the majority of skin types a laser treatment such as the Sciton Halo will deliver phenomenal results targeting texture, scarring, uneven skin tone and wrinkles. This is generally a one off treatment which will deliver the “Halo Glow from 4 weeks afterwards, with results continuing for up to a year. Follow up the laser with Broad Band Light (BBL) treatments which can be tailored to address concerns of redness, pigmentation, acne or anti ageing. Results are cumulative, therefore a series of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart will achieve the best results.

3 MONTHS Now it is time to step things up with only 3 months until the big day. By this stage your major skin concerns will be well on the way to resolution with a reduction in scarring, redness, pigmentation and an overall improvement in skin health, barrier function and hydration. We now need to focus on those treatments that will have you looking luminous at the alter, reception and for all of the photos that come with it. To boost your pre-ceremony glow, a series of light antioxidant chemical peels and Healite LED therapy sessions is a super-charged combination for radiant skin with very little down time. Chemical peels can be known for being aggressive and intensive resurfacing treatments. However there are options for botanical antioxidant peels as a gentle exfoliation and stimulation of the skin - a perfect treatment to incorporate into your pre-wedding skin preparation. These peels use a combination of alpha hydroxy acids that increase the water content of the skin, as well as fruit enzymes that have an exfoliating effect, while simultaneously infusing antioxidant rich ingredients that brighten complexion and promote skin health, as well as fight free radical damage. These peels have minimal downtime, and leave you fresh faced, hydrated and radiant. At the 3 month mark we also recommend you pay another visit to your cosmetic doctor to check in on your injectable treatments and to review your results from your skin treatments. Any changes to your plan can be discussed at this stage too and treatments intensified if your skin is stubborn or problematic.

2 MONTHS Now things are getting serious! Now is not the time to start any intensive treatments or to change up the regime at all. Balance is key. In the home stretch, a series of fortnightly Hydrafacials combined with Healite LED will ensure your skin is picture perfect with that signature Hydrafacial glow. Using Alpha Hydroxy acids and Beta Hydroxy acids to exfoliate and clarify the skin, and finishing with an infusion of Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides and Antioxidants, this treatment truly luminates your skin from the inside out. With minimal to no downtime, it is the perfect last minute treatment that can be done in the final weeks leading up to your event.

1 MONTH This will be when you book in for your final wrinkle relaxer touch up. This isn’t something you want to leave until the last minute, to allow adequate time for the product to work and see the full results. In the final few weeks we hold off the more intensive treatments and recommend the Healite LED to help calm the skin and boost your prewedding glow. If any last minute skin problems occur, such as a breakout from stress, you and your skin team are now in the perfect position to manage this as after over 6 months of getting to know your skin will give the best methods of combating any problems.

1 WEEK A favourite in the week leading up to the big day is the Aquagold Fine Touch Facial which uses a cocktail of solutions including hyaluronic acid and anti-wrinkle injections to smooth the skin, delivering optimal moisture and giving an airbrush appearance. You will notice less facial sweating, decreased pore size and makeup will sit perfectly. Following an Aquagold it is time to focus on beauty treatments and relaxation such as organising your tan, getting a massage and tidying up your lashes and brows. And voilĂ , you will be picture perfect on your special day!

is at her core a storyteller; whether it be through her moody and wistful music style, Gothic Americana, her breakout fashion choices at fashion weeks across the globe or in her upcoming novel, billed as the next inception of Sex & the City, she is a truly a chameleon of the arts who has taken the music and fashion worlds by storm in 2019 and is fast becoming a household name. With her new single, Purple Rain / Million Reasons out this month she again joined her longtime collaborator Moby in recreating two iconic tracks into one mashup that will leave you wanting more. For our cover story, we collaborated with photographer Filbert Kung to further elevate her fashion icon status (Harper’s Bazaar named her ‘Best Dressed’ at NYFW in February 2019) and the results are pure perfection. TELL US ABOUT YOUR START IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY? HOW DID YOU AND MOBY BECOME LONG TERM COLLABORATORS? Before I met Moby, I had been grinding in the music industry for a long time. I was writing songs alone in my bedroom and playing solo singer/songwriter venues mostly in Los Angeles and New York. But I had never made an album, and the “business” of music was something that really intimidated me. I loved writing songs by myself, and I wasn’t comfortable branching out beyond that. But as fate would have it, I was living in a little rental house in Beachwood Canyon in LA in the shadow of a real-life castle across the street. Los Angeles architecture is eclectic like that in that you can have a tiny mid-century modern house like mine next to a Spanish-style home and across the street from a 1920s Normandy castle. I had heard that Moby bought the castle and was restoring it from the disrepair it had fallen into, but I didn’t know much about my new neighbour and had never met him. One Sunday, I went out to water my plants and found a stranger moving my garbage cans in order to park in my driveway. This person was going to a housewarming party across the street and couldn’t find a spot to park. I found the whole thing to be funny. In return for parking, he asked me to join him at the party. I declined and told him he was welcome to park there, but I didn’t want to go to a stranger’s party with a stranger. I’m a loner by nature and socializing with people I don’t know did not sound like fun to me. But he convinced me to come with him for five minutes. And so, I met my neighbour Moby for the first time, who could not have been more gracious and welcoming. We exchanged emails and very quickly had a friendly and musical rapport. He was wonderful about giving me feedback on new songs I was working on. And he would often ask me to run across the street and record vocals on tracks he was working on in his home studio (where he makes all his albums) when he needed a female voice. As time went on, I began performing with him whenever he had live shows, and he became a huge source of encouragement for me. He has produced most of the music I have released including my latest single. YOU HAVE JUST RELEASED YOUR NEW SINGLE ‘PURPLE RAIN / MILLION REASONS’ (A COVER MASHUP) WITH MOBY. TELL US ABOUT THE INSPIRATION AND WHAT IT WAS LIKE COLLABORATING WITH HIM ON YOUR RETURN TO MUSIC IN 2019? I sort of love how we stumbled upon our Purple Rain/Million Reasons mashup, as it was not planned. While touring with Moby, he was looking for some covers to add to the set and suggested I try Purple Rain in a stripped-down acoustic style. I was resistant to the idea which is how most of our work relationship goes! It’s Moby with a good idea and me with my fear that I won’t be good enough pushing back and saying no. So, I was like, “No one wants to hear me cover Prince! I’m terrified.” And he explained that he didn’t want me to copy how Prince sings it. He wanted me to do it in my own vulnerable country-tinged melancholy way. And so, as I began working out my best key and just playing the “Purple Rain” chords on the

piano and accompanying myself to get the feel of the song, I turned to Moby and said, “This sounds like Million Reasons by Lady Gaga. It’s the same chords.” And just for fun I sang Purple Rain straight into Million Reasons. I thought he was going to tell me to stop, but he loved it and asked me to do it on the track. And our mashup was born. Interestingly, I was late to the Joanne album by Lady Gaga but luckily discovered the song and album after falling in love with her in A Star is Born and listening back to all her material. CAN WE EXPECT A NEW ALBUM BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR? I am excited to focus on a single rather than an entire album. I’ve been promoting my album “Abandon All Hope of Fruition” non-stop since it came out in October 2018 so much so that I’ve just started writing new material. So, it feels like a good transition from such an intense album to put out my take on a cover mashup by two amazing artists. IN ADDITION TO MUSIC YOU’VE BEEN BILLED AS A FASHION IT GIRL; W HARPER’S BAZAAR NAMING YOU BEST DRESSED FROM NYFW IN FEBRUARY. WHAT TRENDS, DESIGNERS ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO IN SEPTEMBER? Growing up in a small town in Corpus Christi, Texas I got my love of fashion from my mother. She was a real deal beauty queen and would drop us off and pick us up from school in full hair and makeup and rhinestone jumpsuits with padded shoulders. She is the original best dressed. I’ve always had a love for vintage dresses and am just starting to learn about the world of couture designers. I have never been crazy about following trends because I tend to like quite costume-y clothes and I also care more about how something fits my body than whether it’s on-trend. However, I will say that I think there has been a big resurgence in Western style in current fashion, and I’m obsessed with that. Anything that makes me feel like a modern-day Dolly Parton is a yes. Paris, Texas is a cool boot/shoe line doing faux python printed knee high boots that make me feel like I’m in the Wild West. I also love that lines like Isabel Marant and YSL are doing bandana print handbags. WHAT DO FIND MORE ENJOYABLE, WRITING THE SONGS OR PERFORMING? I’m more of a shy introvert than an attention seeker, so I absolutely enjoy song writing more than being in front of a crowd. I started writing songs to express my inner world and turmoil and, as a by-product of wanting to share my music, performing was a bit of a necessity. I still have a lot of anticipatory anxiety before every performance. One thing I love about performing with Moby is I get to sing (which I have always loved doing) without the pressure of feeling like all eyes are on me. IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ANY MUSICIAN, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD YOU WANT TO WRITE AND PERFORM WITH? Joni Mitchell hands down. I had a chance to go to her birthday party a few years ago, but I was too afraid to meet her, and I stayed home. I didn’t want to meet her in a social setting. But any wisdom I could glean from her on song writing, lyrics, or tunings would be beyond mind blowing.

t’s time to book that flight to Bali but rather than staying on the mainland, venture over to the neighbouring island of Nusa Lembongan.

This is everything you imagine a small tropical island to be and more: turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, incredible marine life, stunning sunsets, traditional ceremonies and friendly locals combined with an altogether slower pace of life. If you really want to unwind, this island is the place to be and on Nusa Lembongan, it’s got to be Sandy Bay. It started with a small beach club and has now grown to a bigger beach club – the iconic Sandy Bay Beach Club. Ocean front sun loungers around the infinity edge pool, oversized daybeds, alfresco dining, live music and Saturday DJ sessions, fabulous cocktails, ice cold beers and an extensive wine list not to forget a great choice of food from 8am right through until dinner. Sandy Bay even has its own ice creamery. Popular with families and groups as well as couples, The Beach Club welcomes everyone. Should you tire of ocean gazing (and it’s a really spectacular ocean setting so this is unlikely), you can wander up to The

Boutique which stocks a fabulous range of resort wear, sunnies, bags, hats, gifts and more but their top seller has to be the Pitch & Gum resin home-wares. Don’t leave the island without buying at least one piece. You will be the envy of your neighbours back home!

Everything seems to have been thought of in the en-suite bedrooms from high-end luxury toiletries to divinely comfortable beds (twin or double option) with top linen, premium tea and coffee making facilities and not to forget delightful touches of those Pitch & Gum home-wares. You won’t want to leave here either.

If you fancy a little bit of pampering (or even a lot) then look no further than The Spa – delectable treatments ranging from body scrubs to a fantastic range of massages – mani/pedis to keep those extremities looking just tip top, spray tan, salon services and more.

Children over 12 are welcome and The Café & Bar are open to the public as is The Spa. The Spa is located next to The Garden Shacks and The Sunset Lounge is a popular spot to enjoy the great views in a peaceful setting whether it be for breakfast or that sundowner.

As for accommodation, you are spoilt for choice. First up is The Beach Shack - a spectacular 3 bedroom absolute beach front property which you will never want to leave. Fully staffed with an ocean front infinity pool, this spacious property has so many different relaxation areas you may just spend your day flitting from sofa to daybed to sun-lounger to the ocean front gazebo. Ideal for groups of friends or families, you can even book it selfishly just for you and your partner. ‘Room service’ is available from the next door beach club so there really is no need to leave!

Offering boules/bocchi, board games, it’s own pool area and delicious breakfasts, this is the place to stay if you don’t want to splash out on The Beach Shack but still want to be in heart of Sandy Bay.

And then there are The Garden Shacks. Six individual shacks – fully equipped with everything you need for a delightful holiday, these form the heart of the Sandy Bay boutique hotel.

Should you be feeling adventurous, the lovely staff are always happy to help make your stay exceptional and they can book diving, snorkeling, tours etc for you during your stay. And to make it even easier, they can organise a pick up for you from the airport or your Bali accommodation direct to Sandy Bay. Couldn’t be easier than that. So book that flight to Bali and shack up at Sandy Bay!

An independently owned eyewear brand with roots in Downtown New York and production in Italy and France, Illesteva’s styles are a direct product of their endlessly fascinating surroundings. We take passion for modern design and translate it into pieces that are fundamentally wearable.

What started as an all too familiar feeling, a out with nothing to wear, a clothing crisis for our creative director Cecilie Jørgensen, sparked the idea that is now Cecilie Copenhagen.

The years since launching have involved design collaborations with some of the biggest names in art and culture; Lou Reed, Michael Jackson, Rashida Jones, and others have lent their names to one-of-a-kind styles. Illesteva preserves the notion that quality comes from attention to process. Research and development is the foundation of our business practice. This dedicated approach is what allows our product to speak for itself.

Made from two scarves, a characteristic print and a new silhouette became our well known signature pieces, Shirt-O & Shirt-V + Shorts. From that winter in 2011, a massive demand followed, and we have grown ever since. Spanning the entire globe from Browns in London to Parlour X in Sydney.
