RESEDA HIGH SCHOOL ROBOTICS TEAM IMPRESSES & INSPIRES Reseda High School’s impressive Robotics Team recently participated in the CSUN Regional Vex Robotics Competition with more than 70 other teams, some of which were from as far as the UK. The rooms were packed, the students were happy and excited and they are learning a lot about Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM). The next local competition for our Reseda team is at Pierce College Jan 26, 2013. To learn more, search the web for information regarding the VEX Robotic design system. Think Create Build Amaze – VEX. Come out and support our students and be awed by an incredible emerging and inspiring program.
2012 Had many successes for the Reseda Neighborhood Council and the entire community. Led by a remarkable 100th Anniversary Music & Arts Festival where thousands came together to celebrate, the pride for our community was palpable all over. Other highlights included successful beautification efforts, a very special 24 hours for cancer research and awareness at Reseda Relay for Life, weekly bike rides, business seminars, an increasingly popular SHOPRESEDA Card program, the 4th Annual Senior Symposium, the most successful Reseda NC Board election yet (by every measure), a movement of more young people getting involved on the Reseda NC Board and throughout the community, and way too much to list. This year we look forward to initiatives like a 5th Senior Symposium, more community-wide celebrations and special events, business gatherings and workshops, disaster and emergency preparedness efforts, a job fair, beautification projects, and a focus on a business corridor poised to rebound. Much more to come from the minds and energy and are in planning stages from the Council’s various active Committees. Want to make our community better? Find a committee or project that suits you and get involved!

year of Holiday Caroling Festivities, bringing joy to retirement homes around the West Valley. The music, love, compassion, and energy provided by the participants brought our senior friends much needed mental and spiritual healing power and growth to address what is often a time for longing to be at home with family and friends. "Together we have the power to make a difference and to make the world a better place especially for our senior friends," expressed Leinen.

Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries have developed a community outreach and education program. We have found that many members of the families in the community want and need information on the subject of pre-planning their memorial – cemetery property and funeral service, for themselves or their family members. They are also unsure of how to get this information and approach this subject with their loved ones. With this in mind, Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries created an education program entitled “Necessary Conversation.” Some of the topics that will be covered are:
What kind of decisions will my family have to make? How can I leave my family with clear direction on what I want and, most importantly, what I don’t want? A “Question and Answers” portion following the seminar
