Message from the President Hello and Happy June, RESA Members! Summer is upon us! I really enjoyed the May BINGO Social, even if I didn’t have much of a voice to call numbers with. Congratulations to everyone who won! I loved seeing everyone get into it and the use of the lucky charms. Thank you to Morgan Fraser and Niki Bounds for all of your work in organizing the night for us. As always, thank you to everyone who brought a guest to join us. We got two new members that night, and we are so glad to have them! The June Social will be a Wine Tasting. This social also serves as our membership drive for the year, so I encourage everyone to invite anyone you know that might be interested in joining us. There will be a prize basket drawing for everyone who brings a guest to this social! We will also be welcoming a new wine vendor this year, Jörg Krick from Weingut Dreikönigshof. I can’t wait to taste the wines he will be bringing for us with you all! On May 5-9, RESA had 14 members attend the Americans Working Around the Globe (AWAG) Annual Training Seminar in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on a sponsorship. They participated in valuable classes and gained knowledge that will better them, RESA, and our community. If you weren’t able to make this seminar, be on the lookout for details to come about AWAG’s Rheinland-Pfalz Area Seminar in the fall. This is a wonderful opportunity for personal and professional growth. I highly recommend it, especially if you are considering serving on our board in 2020! May was a more relaxed month for volunteers, but we still were quite busy! Thank you to everyone who came out in support of our various events last month. We helped out at the annual deployment buddies picnic for the children who participated in the program this school year. They are children with a deployed parent, and it is always a pleasure to give back to them. A huge thank you to Nicole Little, Alana Lowry, Cassandra Williams, Farnaz Yousefi, and Amber Mignosa for all of the hard work they put into making the picnic a success! We hosted a Thrift Shop Saturday and opened the donation dock for participants of the Ramstein base wide yard sale. Thank you so much to everyone who lent a hand during that event. We got SO many donations, and I appreciate all who were able to lend a hand. RESA also participated in the Ramstein base wide “Clean Where You Work Day”, and cleaned up the outside of the Thrift Shop and parking area. It looks great! Speaking of the Thrift Shop… as we get into PCS season, the Thrift Shop is going to continue getting busy. They would appreciate any and all volunteers that they can get during open hours, so please consider giving a little of your time to them this summer. RESA relies on the Thrift Shop to generate the funds that we put right back into the community, and we June will be another great month for us! We will be sending volunteers to the Quarterly Airmen Birthday Lunch at the Rheinland Inn Dining Facility, and cooking for the USO. Sign-ups for these events will be posted in our Facebook group if you’re interested in helping out. We will also be presenting KMC Area Scholarship recipients with their scholarships alongside our sister organizations, ROSC and KLSA at one last event this month. This time, Ramstein High School students will be awarded. The Scholarship program has truly blown me away this year! Thank you to Kimberly Ceniceros for her work as the RESA representative on the committee this year. Congratulations to the two RESA members who received scholarships, Michelle Arredondo and Nicole Little. As always, thank you all for everything that you do. I hope you enjoy the sunshine and I look forward to catching up with you at our upcoming events! Sincerely, Nicole
