The operating voltage range of this module is from 28V to 32V, 30V nominal. If used at 32V, the max power available will be higher but with a consequently decrease of efficiency and MTBF. Under conditions of overdrive or reflected power, when a multicarrier signal is applied, the 32V supply can be the reason of a minor ruggedness. Please, use suitable protection circuits.

General description The LDU62-HG is a dual stage Power Amplifier, with parallel operated devices, designed in order to cover the entire UHF Broadcast band, from 470 to 862MHz in broadband configuration. Thanks of his high gain and linearity the LDU62-HG is the perfect solution for driver application. The unit uses the last generation of 50V powered LDMOS devices for increased ruggedness and reliability. The particular ground board solution is warranty of top performance during the years. We strongly recommend to carefully read the information here below before start to integrate this Power Amplifier in your system. THERMAL WORKING CONDITIONS This Amplifier must work at the specified heat-sink temperature. Maximum operating temperature is always referred to the nominal operating conditions. It’s responsibility of the System Integration Engineer to select the proper heat-sink dimension / type, use the proper type and quantity of thermal grease between pallet carrier and heat-sink and to provide the required air-flow to the system. For special application we recommend to contact RES-Ingenium Technical Department. LOAD MATCHING This Pallet Amplifier can work at stated maximum Output Power with 2:1 VSWR without damages. This limit is valid only for analogue or digital broadcasting signals. Other type of signals could change this limit. For operation with higher VSWR a properly designed protection system is strongly recommended. For special application we invite to contact RES-Ingenium Technical Department. QUIESCENT CURRENT (BIAS) Quiescent current is set in factory at the value stated in the Test Data Report (TDR). This setting is the best compromise between analogue and digital broadcasting application. Optimization or special settings for different application can be provided under request. SHIELDING A good shielding between this pallet and all other power amplifiers in the power amplification chain is always required in order to avoid interference that could damage the unit. It’s also strongly recommended to place a good RF Choke on the power supply line. OVERDRIVE This Amplifier can withstand +6dB Input (referred to the Nominal Input Power) for short period without damages. Higher Input Power levels can damage the unit. In any case it’s strongly recommended to use a proper Input Protection Circuit in order to avoid damages, in particular with digital signals.

Integration and important Operating instructions

The LDU688CA is designed for operation of up to 200Wrms (DVB signal). The high power density of the amplifier will not safely allow prolonged operation above this average power level. The built-in security features of the SMARTBIAS ®, when present, should disable the amplifier before damage occurs in case of over-temperature. SMARTBIAS (Optional) is a digital polarizer of LdMOS, This device allows the compensation of nonlinear VGS compared to the change of temperature and gate voltage. Moreover it allows you to independently adjust the gate voltage VGS1 VGS2 by means of an infrared tool (available upon request) to measure the temperature at the center of pallet. The LDMOS devices used in this design are of the 6th generation family, capable of very high peak power as long as the average power does not exceed specified ratings. The devices are soldered on the carrier in order to assure the maxium power dissipation and efficiency. The LDU688CA amplifier requires an excellent heatsink for reliable operation. This heatsink must be capable of dissipating the maximum heat generated. In the case of 180Wrms (DVB) operation, this is approximately 680W of heat in the worst condition. Use of the correct amount of a quality thermal compound is also critically important to long term operation and high reliability. It’s suggested to keep 3.8mm (0.15”) minimum spacing in the short dimension between pallet. Use stainless hardware and applying appropriate torque at all fixing points, as indicated in this datasheet. Direct some airflow over the top of the amplifier. Minimal airflow is recommended, strong airflow is not required. Use appropriate size Teflon insulated wire for positive voltage. Please refer to the specific drawing in this datasheet for contact locations. Apply supply voltage with the RF drive OFF. Due to its high gain, the amplifier is sensitive to overdrive and can be damaged if overdriven. Monitor pallet carrier temperature. In the event of cyclic shutdown, cooling must be improved.

IMPORTANT: This amplifier is sensitive to overdrive and may be damaged by careless application of input power. Please always refer to the safety area in the Overdrive Diagram shown in this datasheet. Integration and important Operating instructions The LDU688XL is designed for operation of up to 200Wrms (DVB signal). The high power density of the amplifier will not safely allow prolonged operation above this average power level. The built-in security features of the SMARTBIAS ®, when present, should disable the amplifier before damage occurs in case of over-temperature. SMARTBIAS (Optional) is a digital polarizer of LdMOS, This device allows the compensation of nonlinear VGS compared to the change of temperature and gate voltage. Moreover it allows you to independently adjust the gate voltage VGS1 VGS2 by means of an infrared tool (available upon request) to measure the temperature at the center of pallet. The LDMOS devices used in this design are of the 6th generation family, capable of very high peak power as long as the average power does not exceed specified ratings. The devices are soldered on the carrier in order to assure the maxium power dissipation and efficiency. The LDU688XL amplifier requires an excellent heatsink for reliable operation. This heatsink must be capable of dissipating the maximum heat generated. In the case of 200Wrms (DVB) operation, this is approximately 700W of heat in the worst condition. Use of the correct amount of a quality thermal compound is also critically important to long term operation and high reliability. It’s suggested to keep 3.8mm (0.15”) minimum spacing in the short dimension between pallet. Use stainless hardware and applying appropriate torque at all fixing points, as indicated in this datasheet. Direct some airflow over the top of the amplifier. Minimal airflow is recommended, strong airflow is not required. Use appropriate size Teflon insulated wire for positive voltage. Please refer to the specific drawing in this datasheet for contact locations. Apply supply voltage with the RF drive OFF. Due to its high gain, the amplifier is sensitive to overdrive and can be damaged if overdriven. Monitor pallet carrier temperature. In the event of cyclic shutdown, cooling must be improved. IMPORTANT: This amplifier is sensitive to overdrive and may be damaged by careless application of input power. Please always refer to the safety area in the Overdrive Diagram shown in this datasheet. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure input and output power does not exceed ratings. Warranty will be voided in cases of overdrive. The system must allow the nominal voltage before applying RF driver signal or damage can result to the amplifier. For this reason the voltage must be applied before the RF driver signal. Additionally, the input signal, must be removed before powering down to prevent damage to the amplifier. You can accomplish this by removing the RF driver signal and powering down the power amplifier. The pallet is delivered within its sealed ESD packaging. General description The LDU62-R is a single stage Power Amplifier, with parallel operated devices, designed in order to cover the entire UHF Broadcast band, from 470 to 862MHz in broadband configuration. Thanks of his high linearity the LDU62-R is the perfect solution for driver application. The unit uses the last generation of 50V powered LDMOS devices mod. BLF881 (or equivalent) for increased ruggedness and reliability. The particular ground board solution is warranty of top performance during the years. APPLICATION NOTES

We strongly recommend to carefully read the information here below before start to integrate this Power Amplifier in your system. THERMAL WORKING CONDITIONS This Amplifier must work at the specified heat-sink temperature. Maximum operating temperature is always referred to the nominal operating conditions. It’s responsibility of the System Integration Engineer to select the proper heat-sink dimension / type, use the proper type and quantity of thermal grease between pallet carrier and heat-sink and to provide the required air-flow to the system. For special application we recommend to contact RES-Ingenium Technical Department. LOAD MATCHING This Pallet Amplifier can work at stated maximum Output Power with 2:1 VSWR without damages. This limit is valid only for analogue or digital broadcasting signals. Other type of signals could change this limit. For operation with higher VSWR a properly designed protection system is strongly recommended. For special application we invite to contact RES-Ingenium Technical Department. QUIESCENT CURRENT (BIAS) Quiescent current is set in factory at the value stated in the Test Data Report (TDR). This setting is the best compromise between analogue and digital broadcasting application. Optimization or special settings for different application can be provided under request. SHIELDING A good shielding between this pallet and all other power amplifiers in the power amplification chain is always required in order to avoid interference that could damage the unit. It’s also strongly recommended to place a good RF Choke on the power supply line. OVERDRIVE This Amplifier can withstand +6dB Input (referred to the Nominal Input Power) for short period without damages. Higher Input Power levels can damage the unit. In any case it’s strongly recommended to use a proper Input Protection Circuit in order to avoid damages, in particular with digital signals.

Integration and important Operating instructions

The LDU40J is designed for operation of up to 15Wrms (DVB signal). The high power density of the amplifier will not safely allow prolonged operation above this average power level. The built-in security features of the SMARTBIAS ®, when present, should disable the amplifier before damage occurs in case of over-temperature. SMARTBIAS (Optional) is a digital polarizer of LdMOS, This device allows the compensation of nonlinear VGS compared to the change of temperature and gate voltage. Moreover it allows you to independently adjust the gate voltage VGS1 VGS2 by means of an infrared tool (available upon request) to measure the temperature at the center of pallet. Use stainless hardware and applying appropriate torque at all fixing points, as indicated in this datasheet. Direct some airflow over the top of the amplifier. Minimal airflow is recommended, strong airflow is not required. Use appropriate size Teflon insulated wire for positive voltage. Please refer to the specific drawing in this datasheet for contact locations. Apply supply voltage with the RF drive OFF. Due to its high gain, the amplifier is sensitive to overdrive and can be damaged if overdriven. IMPORTANT: This amplifier is sensitive to overdrive and may be damaged by careless application of input power. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure input and output power does not exceed ratings. Warranty will be voided in cases of overdrive. The system must allow the nominal voltage before applying RF driver signal or damage can result to the amplifier. For this reason the voltage must be applied before the RF driver signal. Additionally, the input signal, must be removed before powering down to prevent damage to the amplifier. You can accomplish this by removing the RF driver signal and powering down the power amplifier. The pallet is delivered within its sealed ESD packaging. Use all professional caution during unpacking, handling and mounting. Please consult RES-INGENIUM factory with any integration questions.
