Amazing for walks through the rice fields – best time to go is when it’s a bit overcast, that way you can enjoy walks and not worry about getting too burnt. Eat lunch for less than $10 and enjoy a bintang looking at the beautiful views. There are the best massage retreats/yoga if you’re into meditation. If you can spend one night there at and spend a bit of $$ at an amazing place, you would not regret it.

About an hour away, great place to have lunch and just relax on a golden sand beach on deck chairs and a cocktail. You will need to book in for lunch and pay to get in but they will take this off your lunch bill. Great for beach movies at night also for the kids. Namos is a pioneering beach club not only in Bali but across South East Asia. Its natural attributes alone are hard to match - a crescent of white sand giving onto the aquamarine waters of a tranquil lagoon that can be snorkelled or explored by kayak. Accessed by a funicular that traverses 85 metres of cliff face patrons can relax in the whimsical, cozy environs of a curvilinear bamboo pavilion complete with bar, kitchen, wood fired pizza oven and lounge seating, which extends to the beach itself. http://nammosbeachclub.com/ Finn’s Beach - Next door to Karma Kandara Massages, day beds, restaurants, feed the monkeys, snorkel, surf... you name it and the best part is, its only 40 minutes from Seminyak! Finn’s Beach Club has become the Number 1 destination when visiting Bali, for all those “in the know”. The 180 metres When the tide pulls low, rock pools and a crystal clear lagoon are left behind perfect for an underwater view of the tropical life.

Elephant Park Bike Ride Pick up 7.30am at the W Hotel - drop off 4:30pm. AUD$120 This is a great bike ride and they allow kids to do the ride also – its a pretty easy ride from Kintumani the Volcano down to the Elephant park riding with rice fields and old towns. See elephants painting and take home an elephant artwork helping to save this endangered species, wander through the elephant museum or tropical botanical gardens. Accommodation is really cheap, you can literally get a hut for $40 USD per night! It is also the turtle capital of the world! http://www.gili-paradise.com/ Lombok Perfect for a little trip away from the busy Legian, Kuta and Seminyak regions... again, crystal water, white sand, hire a boat and go out and catch your own fish, come back and cook it at your villa...You can fly there or go by boat!

Nusa Dua Nusa Dua a great for a day trip with your family, friends, boyfriend, girlfriend or even on your own! (It’s only a 40 minute drive). The sand is white and the water is so crystal clear. You can snorkel, waterski, jet ski, parasail, fish or just chill out on the beach. Uluwatu Ulawatu is a great day trip where you can you can snorkel, waterski, jet ski, parasail, fish or just chill out on the beach. You can buy some really cute silk scarves from the ladies on the beach so make sure you bring cash! Traditional kecak fire and trance dance at Uluwatu Temples. This is the real deal. There are about 50 people involved and it looks as though this show was not just put on for the tourists. This is something that the Balinese do as part of their spiritual life. James Cameron saw footage of this dance which inspired the scene in Avatar where the tribe sits in the circle and sways whilst chanting. 7. Bistrot

9. The Legian

12. Sardine

Discreetly situated behind a beautiful temple but roadside on the very popular ‘Eat Street’ of the Seminyak area of southern Bali, this restaurant and bar has been conceptualized and lovingly put together. An impressive wooden and natural hewn stone air-conditioned yet high ceilinged open space, guests immediately feel welcomed upon entering and reminded of a New York loft/ factory space with a distinct industrial feel. This is a very metro meets retro feel. However, the interior furnishings are warm and accommodating, and pay homage to many antiques and artefacts sourced from around the Indonesian archipelago, most being from the couple’s personal collection. The upstairs bar, provides a space that Hemingway would be proud of, and the spacious restaurant area reminiscent of the chic Orient Express railway dining carriage. Bistrot is original, quirky, delicious and very ‘fairytale’ adult.

This sophisticated cocktail bar offers live jazz, a great selection of Cuban cigars, including one made specially for the hotel, and the fresh sea breezes. A great place to start or end an evening. Located at

Prepare to be wowed by this stunning and elegant addition to Bali’s fine-dining scene... Strikingly housed in a sprawling bamboo structure overlooking rice paddies, Sardines is equally inviting for a drink or a meal. A comfortable lounge area sits next to a pond, home to a school of very rare white koi carp -- the chef assures us they will not end up on your table. The menu is made of predominately fish and organic greens. The owners have taken a tip from the locals and serve surprisingly delicious arak cocktails -- no mean feat. Sardines of course are the house specialty on the daily changing menu.
