Sandy Springs officials say they’ve checked the numbers again and there aren’t as many problems with the list of registered voters as they first thought. City Manager John McDonough updated City Council about the city’s latest count of discrepancies found in the current list during council’s Oct. 1 meeting. At the first City Council meeting in September, an analyst told council members he’d found nearly 5,000 problems with the county’s list of registered voters in the city. The Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods this month rated members of the current City Council on whether their votes are “friendly” to neighborhood interests, but some council members say the list is unfair. According to the SSCN, only 31 percent of votes cast on 10 controversial zoning decisions during this City Council’s term were considered “Neighborhood Friendly.” SSCN is an advocacy group that lobbies City Council on neighborhood issues.
