Sunriver Resort Betty Gray Gallery

he Sunriver Resort Lodge Betty Gray Art Gallery presents fine art exhibitions featuring noted Central Oregon artists in the upper and the lower floor galleries of the lodge. Billye Turner, art consultant, and Sunriver Resort announce exhibits for the summer and holiday seasons of the quarterly exhibition series. The summer fine art exhibition opens June 6 continuing through September 3, 2017. Featuring local artists JM Brodrick, MaryLea Harris and Karen Ruane, the exhibition offers a wide variety of medium and styles. Artist JM Brodrick notes, “I am a painter working towards merging realism with the beauty of pure abstract.” Juried exhibitions and awards evidence her expertise: Best of America, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, 2016; Artists to Watch, Southwest Art Magazine, September 2015 and others. Both serene and dramatic, her over-laying of Sunset Beauty, acrylic on canvas colors creates by JM Brodrick hues appearing to glow from within as seen in Sunset Beauty. MaryLea Harris has degrees in studio art and art history from Sweet Briar College and a master of fine arts from Virginia

Commonwealth University in painting. A Harry D. Forsyth Fellow at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, her paintings feature brightly colored abstracts and her recent Map Series explores our relationships between physical and belonging. Karen Ruane notes, “I love color, nature and I love form!” A common thread in her artistic career, she combines her affection for these aspects into SThe Roost, watercolor on paper by Vivian Olson colorful, abstract paintings, allowing the varied mediums to flow as desired, although directed through tools. A magna cum laude graduate of art school at the University of Arizona, she now works full time as an artist in Bend. Featured in the Holiday exhibition period, November 20-February 22, are works in varied mediums and genre by the High Desert Art League of Central Oregon members Cindy Briggs, Helen Brown, David Kinker, Jacqueline Newbold, Vivian Olsen, Janice Rhodes, Barbara Slater and Joren Traveller. With a wide range of imagery, the members depict the pleasures of the season. The summer exhibition marks the beginning of the 22nd year of exhibitions curated by Turner for Sunriver Resort. The Sunriver Resort Lodge is open all hours. Contact Billye Turner at 503-7802828 or billyeturner@bendnet.com for additional information.
