A Message From Management

Dear Residents, Family, and Friends: Changes are happening at Renaissance Village Murrieta that we’re excited to share. With the recent promotion of Brian Taube to Senior Executive Director, we’ve welcomed Janae Orona to the Renaissance Village Murrieta Family as our Executive Director.

Janae has over 11 years of experience in the senior living industry, where she served as Reception, Activity Director, Business Office Assistant and Director, Assistant Executive Director, and now Executive Director.

Senior living is not where she found her start in healthcare. While attending San Diego State University, Janae studied kinesiology with the end goal of working with children through Occupational Therapy. After reflecting upon this decision and having the opportunity to work in senior living, it dawned on her what a treasure it is to work with seniors. She enjoyed the friendships one develops with residents and the conversations full of wisdom and experience. Janae loves how you can make a difference in their lives, which goes a long way.

Janae did her masters in healthcare admin, focusing on gerontology, through the University of Phoenix. With these resources and experience, she continued growing through the various senior living industry positions. As Renaissance Village Murrieta’s Executive Director, Janae looks forward to meeting residents and their families. She desires to share her personal experiences and passions and continue to create great days for residents.

Janae believes creating great days for residents makes a huge difference in their quality of life. What starts as one day turns into two, and so on, which can then move beyond that person and affect others, too. She looks forward to making that impact at Renaissance Village Murrieta. Janae wants residents, family, and staff to know she’s a good listener and wants to hear all feedback.

Janae and her husband Mike celebrate seven years of marriage and have two sons, Jackson (5) and Michael (3). They also have two dogs. She loves spending time with her family and enjoys being outdoors.

We’re excited to see the great things she will do as the Executive Director of Renaissance Village Murrieta. Please stop by Janae’s office or say hello when you see her around the community. You can also reach her by email at ed@rvseniorliving.com.

Thank you,

an aerospace company, and in 1956, they transferred him to California. Jean looks back on raising her children fondly. It was a lovely time while they were one happy family, and she loved every part of being their mother. She also enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and taking care of their home. Jean enjoyed playing Bridge with various groups of people, hosting in her home often. It was a fun time spent with friends.

Jean M. was born in Saginaw, Michigan. She was the second child and first daughter of her parents. Jack was her older brother, and she had two younger siblings, Nancy and David. They were all very close. Her father lived to be 81, and her mother lived until she was 92. Jean recalls both of her parents always being there for their children. They all spent a lot of time together, and as they grew older, this continued. Many of her relatives moved to be near the various lakes in Michigan. As a result, they spent a lot of time boating.

Jean married, and she and her husband were together for 20 years. They had three children together: two daughters, Marty and Linda, and a son, Mark. They lived their early life in Michigan, but her husband worked for

Jean and her thenhusband also had the pleasure and opportunity to travel extensively to places like Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, London, Hawaii, and Alaska. They had fun staying at the excellent accommodations, eating delicious food in the restaurants, and seeing all the sights each new place had to offer. Her trips to Australia and New Zealand and, Ireland, Scotland, and London were among her favorites. They even stayed a few nights in a castle in Ireland, which was a memorable experience. While she enjoyed the opportunities to travel, she was always glad to get back home.

Jean worked at a business conglomerate for 17 years. The company was based in Marina del Rey, but over the years moved to Westwood. Jean worked in the benefits department and saw the company sell various

parts of the company over the years. She rose to take on the benefits manager position, and by the end of her time there, the company was HPI Hospital Pharmacies. They operated pharmacies in hospitals in all different areas of California on a contract basis. However, when another company bought them out and wanted her to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico, she decided to retire.

Jean was not interested in living in Albuquerque and moved to Newport Beach. She took a part-time position working for a certified public accountant. Jean did not think she would last nine weeks there, but she worked there for nine years and enjoyed working there.

Jean’s kids are all grown now and have families of their own. Her daughters live nearby, and her son and his family live in New Hampshire. She enjoyed visiting them in New Hampshire, but most of the time, they come to California. Jean’s daughters lovingly care for her needs, such as grocery shopping, accounting, chauffeuring, and secretarial. Helping Seniors Prepare for Successful Doctor Visits

As people age, it’s common to have several doctor visits scheduled each year. In addition to a primary care physician, they may have medical specialists who focus on specific health conditions. A senior may periodically see a cardiologist, urologist, rheumatologist, pulmonologist, ophthalmologist, or audiologist. These specialists help manage common age-related health challenges.

Since an average doctor visit lasts 15-20 minutes, it’s important to maximize the time. The patient wants to be sure to convey essential information and discuss any new symptoms or problems. A patient that goes to their appointment well prepared will generally have a more successful and productive visit. Patients should always bring an ID and their health insurance cards to every doctor’s appointment. The following are other tips that will help seniors better prepare for their visit. Make a List: A list helps people prioritize their concerns. It’s easy to forget things if there is no list. Write down all current prescription medications and their dosages. Be specific about any side effects that were experienced. Make a list of any over-the-counter medications and supplements being taken. Inform the doctor of any allergies. Write down your personal medical history, including past surgeries, for any new providers. List any new health complaints along with symptoms. Questions to ask may concern bloodwork or other tests, upcoming procedures, and referrals to specialists.

Update the Doctor: Inform the doctor of any new prescriptions from other providers. Give information about any recent falls or other accidents and recent hospitalizations. Discuss

significant changes in weight, mobility issues, or levels of pain. Bring up issues that may be causing stress in your life. These details are important because they provide a more complete picture of your overall health and help the doctor determine an appropriate treatment plan.

Bring a Family Member: It may be helpful to bring a family member or trusted friend to the appointment, especially when feeling ill or stressed. That person may be able to remind the patient to ask pertinent questions or remember details. They can help clarify instructions, ask follow-up questions, or even take notes. It can be difficult to remember things later that were not written down.

Good Communication: Communication helps patients be actively involved in their healthcare. The best medical care depends on it. Make sure that questions and concerns are addressed before leaving the appointment. Confirm that the treatment plan is understood and know when to schedule a follow-up visit.

Renaissance Villages has partnerships with GeriFit and EmpowerMe Wellness to help promote independence and enhance residents’ quality of life. Our residents can arrange for transportation to and from doctor appointments, if needed. Contact us for a tour of our residential options.
