RANKINS #98

GURLEY #30

Now in his third season, the club’s 2016 third round draft pick has been a solid addition to the Saints defense and a key figure in their improvement over the past two seasons. In addition to showing flashes of his pass rush ability with four sacks in 2018, Rankins has also played an important role in New Orleans, ranking first in the NFL in opponent net yards rushing per game and per attempt. On Sunday night’s win at Minnesota, Rankins tied for the team lead with two sacks.

Since coming into the NFL as the tenth overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Georgia by the Rams, Gurley has led the NFL in rushing yards (4,096), rushing touchdowns (40) and total touchdowns (50). In 2018, Gurley leads the NFL in rushing yards (800), rushing touchdowns (11), total yards from scrimmage (1,151) and total touchdowns (15). The matchup between New Orleans’ defense — which is ranked first in the NFL against the run both in yards per game and yards per run, and the Rams rushing offense led by Gurley — will be pivotal in deciding the winner of the contest.
