LARYN AGE: 22 HOMETOWN: Shreveport MAJOR: Theatre, with a minor in kinesiology NICKNAME: Lo YEARS ON TEAM: 2 FAVORITE QUOTE: “Be a pineapple: stand tall, wear a crown and be sweet on the inside!”
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND: I was born in Shreveport, but have lived in many different places throughout my childhood because my dad is military. When I started high school, I moved back to Shreveport to finish all four years in one spot. This is where I started my career as a dancer after making the high school dance team. After graduating, I was accepted into my dream college — Louisiana State University — where I am currently in my last year. I am also a part of the theatre program’s physical theatre club, where I study aerial skills and other movement related classes. After college, I hope to be able to open a gym of my own, while also teaching dance. Being a part of the Saints organization has been nothing shy of great. I don’t just get the skill of dancing, I get to learn how to present myself as a better person. I am able to influence people who have a dream to be on those sidelines and that is something I cannot not thank the Saints enough for giving me this opportunity.
GET TO KNOW LARYN HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS? I define success as being happy and content with yourself. Being able to reach all the goals and knowing you have put your all into it.
I competed in my first bodybuilding competition and got first place. Finally, I got an internship with the mayor of Shreveport doing what I love, teaching how to live a healthier lifestyle to children.
WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED? My mom and dad — I honestly want nothing more than to make them proud and repay them for taking care of me all my life.
SHARE THE BEST ADVICE YOU WERE EVER GIVEN. “As a dancer, if you want to be considered an athlete train like one.”
WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR? Everything in my life including my education, family and friends and the Saints!
WHO INSPIRES YOU? My mom because she does so much to help and never complains about it.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE BEING A SAINTSATION WITH THE DEMANDS OF YOUR DAILY LIFE? Tons of planning and keeping my priorities in check. If I have schoolwork due and a game that weekend, I plan ahead and get all of my school work done. Game day is very busy and demanding and I want to keep myself stress free as much as possible.
DO YOU HAVE SECRET TALENTS? I’m really good at pull-ups.
TELL US ABOUT THE TOP THREE ACCOMPLISHMENTS YOU’RE MOST PROUD OF OUTSIDE OF JOINING THE SAINTSATIONS. My first would be getting into my dream college LSU. Next,
