How My Implant Technology Look? The short answer is YOUR TEETH. Implants can be designed to fit perfectly in terms of shape, color and size with your existing teeth, or you can get completely new ones! The long answer is‌ A dental implant is a bio-compatible, man-made substitute that replaces missing tooth roots. It is usually made of a space-age alloy of titanium and comes in various shapes and sizes. Most are cylinders placed into bone and left undisturbed while the bone heals around them, locking them in like an anchor. After a few months, the implants are used as a foundation for replacing the missing teeth. Dental implants restore lost chewing ability, improve appearance, end embarrassment, and give real selfconfidence to patients who need them. They truly are a breakthrough.

If You Think There's No Such Thing As A Comfortable, Relaxing Dental Visit, Then Your Dentist Has been Holding out On You We make you feel comfortable & at ease It is our experience that giving patients the opportunity to express their fears is the key to defeating dental distress. Modern dentistry is almost painless. Therefore, we encourage our phobic patients to discuss their fears. That is why Dr. Rementer created the New Patient Interview. This interview is conducted in a private setting where we ask open-ended questions and listen to the patient’s responses. We find that patients share their fears and concerns more easily, here, than in the treatment room. In addition to taking the time to discuss patient’s fears, our experience tells us that patients feel more at ease when they take part in decisions about their treatment. That is why Dr. Rementer created the Co-Diagnosis appointment. Our job is to show you the finest/ most long lasting dentistry we can provide. Your job is to decide whether you want all, some, or none of the dentistry we propose. In other words, you decide how quickly you get your mouth healthy. You may be able to have treatment completed in one or two long appointments or have a series of shorter appointments or have procedures done one at a time. You decide what works best for you. During the appointment, we explain what’s happening at every stage of the procedure. And, throughout the procedure, we take short breaks to update you on how the treatment is progressing. This helps to lower patients’ anxiety. When you know what the dentist is about to do next, you can prepare yourself. You won’t be taken by surprise. 8

On the other hand, some people may feel less anxious if they don’t know what’s happening. If this is true for you, communicate this to us. We adapt to your wishes whenever possible. Another helpful technique is Dr. Rementer’s hand signal technique. When you raise your right hand, that is our signal to stop everything right away. This gives our patients a greater sense of control and this simple technique does lessen patients’ anxiety. You don’t have to wait until you’re having pain to give the signal. You may ask us to stop because you’d like to rinse your mouth or simply catch your breath, or just take a break for a few seconds. Bottom line, you may feel embarrassed to discuss your fears. Remember that you are not alone. Fears are not uncommon. Once we know what the issues are, we will be better able to find workable solutions to fit your specific situation.

Pain Control Fear of pain is the main reason people avoid seeing the dentist. Even those who schedule regular dental appointments cite fear of pain as being a significant issue. In recent years, dentistry has developed a wide variety of medicines and techniques to handle pain. They can reduce or eliminate pain during most procedures. These include: Topical anesthetics — Applied with a Q-tip, topical anesthetics are used routinely to numb an area of the mouth or gum before the injection of a local anesthetic. Dr. Rementer has her topical anesthesia created by a compound pharmacy. Air abraison — Using no drill, air abrasion “wipes away” decay with a mixture of air and abrasive sand. By eliminating the drill, we also eliminate the needle! Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) — This is one of the most common forms of in-office pain control. The gas may make you feel relaxed or even euphoric. The effects wear off quickly once the gas is turned off. Nitrous oxide generally is used as a supplement to other drugs, not as a replacement. Computer-controlled anesthesia delivery systems — Many people dread the injection of anesthetic that precedes many dental procedures. It’s not the injection itself that causes most of the pain, but the pressure of the fluid entering the body. Dr. Rementer has a special computer-controlled delivery system, the Wand, that adjusts the flow of anesthetic so that it finds a route through the tissues that causes the least discomfort.

Sedation We can also prescribe sedatives such as diazepam (Valium) to relax the central nervous system. This is different from analgesics, which block pain. Sedatives help people feel calmer and more relaxed. Bottom line, when it comes to fear and pain management, this practice is not your “grandma’s dental office.”

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is a safe, comfortable way to completely relax during dental appointments. It sounds impossible to believe, but with this technique you really can “sleep” right through a dental appointment. In most cases our patients do not actually fall asleep, but they do experience a deep feeling of calm and peace. Combined with the careful application of a numbing agent to any sensitive areas, patients experience a pain-free, relaxing session with us.

Who's It For? Sedation is right for anyone who wants the dental care they need without the pain or fear they’ve come to expect. It’s also great for those who need a lot of work done, but don’t have time for several appointments.

What Does Sedation Feel Like? A catnap. You’re not unconscious, but you’re pleasantly “dozing” as though in a half waking, lf dream state. Most of our patients report feeling just unaware enough to be calm and relaxed. And when it’s over you’ll feel refreshed, with little or no memory of the treatment performed. We also understand that not having visited a dentist in years doesn’t mean you don’t care about your health or that you’re too cheap or that you have no sense of personal hygiene. You do care, you would spend the money and presenting the best version of yourself to the world IS important to you. The problem is that paralyzing fear you just can’t seem to shake. I understand all of this and I want to help. www.durhamdentistry.com

One-Visit Crowns, Inlays & Onlays Natural-looking, durable restorations in one visit with breakthrough CEREC technology! CEREC (CEramic REConstruction) is a breakthrough 3-D imaging and milling technology that allows Durham Dentist Marcia Rementer to create well-fitted, color-matched permanent crowns out of durable, high-grade porcelain. This is done in one visit, requiring no temporaries. Dr. Rementer is very experienced in the use of CEREC technology, and has used it to restore thousands of smiles with same-day, permanent crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers.

One-Visit Crowns Dr. Rementer designs your crown using her in-house CEREC computer. The process of designing and milling your durable CEREC crown is remarkably simple. First, Dr. Rementer takes a 3-dimensional photo of your tooth. Then her computer system analyzes your mouth structure to determine the best shape and dimensions for your new crown. CEREC restorations are milled from a single block of high-quality ceramic, a substance which is particularly compatible with the body and has the same characteristics as normal, healthy dental enamel. Using the CEREC milling machine, we can make your crown to Dr. Rementer’s specifications in just a few minutes. Next, using the special CERC milling machine right here in our office, we will create your crown. The milling process takes 10 to 12 minutes depending on the size of the replacement tooth. Once the restoration is created, Dr. Rementer bonds it into place and you leave the office with a beautiful, permanent crown.

Are CEREC Crowns Durable? Yes, in fact, the material of your new crown is even stronger than your natural teeth. CEREC ceramic expands in the same way as teeth do, and also because it comes from a single block, a CEREC restoration is less prone to cracks and flaws than other types of restorations.

Get a Complimentary Consultation Dr. Rementer will fully explain your options in your complimentary consultation. If you think that need a new crown or want to replace a large filling (inlay or onlay), come in for a consultation with Dr. Rementer. When you come in for your Complimentary Consultation, you’ll receive: • A complete oral examination • Smile evaluation • Dr. Rementer will listen to your needs • Fully explain your options • Let you know if you are a candidate for a CEREC restoration. If CEREC is right for you, we can give you your crown or new inlay or onlay in just one visit! To schedule your Complimentary Consultation, please Call us at 919-666-2623 to make an appointment or click here to request an appointment online.

One Visit Inlays and Onlays Inlays and onlays are a type of filling that are used to restore a broken-down tooth or to replace an existing large filling. Dr. Remanter’s CEREC system allows her to create beautiful and strong tooth-colored inlays and onlays both for front and back teeth. CEREC restorations have the same translucence, color and brilliance of your natural healthy teeth.

Zoom! Teeth Whitening

A bright, sparkling smile can change the way people see you and the way that you feel about yourself. The Zoom!® Teeth Whitening procedure is: • Fast and convenient • Long lasting • Low sensitivity • Proven to be safe and effective Zoom! is the ideal teeth whitening process if you are in a hurry for results. In a little over an hour, Dr. Rementer can whiten your teeth an average of 10 shades.

The Zoom! Whitening Process The Zoom! Whitening process is fast and painless. After making yourself comfy in our operatory chair, we’ll place protective coverings over your lips and gums. Then we’ll apply the Zoom! Whitening gel to your teeth. The active ingredient in the gel is a pH-balanced hydrogen peroxide. A special lowheat light will activate the gel. It will penetrate the enamel and dentin in your teeth to remove deep stains and discoloration. Afterwards, we will apply a fluoride treatment to complete the one-hour procedure. That’s it – in and out. Zoom!

What Causes Tooth Discoloration? Every day, your teeth get a thorough workout. While the top layers are made of durable enamel and dentin, they can become discolored by wine, tea, coffee, or tobacco. Even medication, antibiotics, excessive fluoride, and aging can cause stains and discoloration.

Eliminate stains and discoloration with in-office whitening You will find a vast variety of over-the-counter home whitening products on the market, but the professional Zoom! Whitening system elicits far greater results. If you want whiter teeth, ask us about Zoom! Whitening today. Many patients report that Zoom! Whitening has made their teeth six to ten shades whiter. Some have even said that their smile became brighter days after their dental appointment. More importantly, the results lasted for years. If you notice any discoloration, the Zoom! Whitening System includes a take-home touch-up kit with comfortable custom-made trays. Regular brushing and flossing, plus an annual touch-up at home, and your teeth can remain dazzlingly white for years.

Tooth-Colored Fillings Dr. Rementer does fillings fast and painlessly, and without the use of mercury. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Rementer has extensive training in dental bonding and the use of composite materials. She creates tooth-colored fillings using one of the newer generation composite materials. This material not only has the ability to fight cavities, but it also allows her to make larger fillings than with traditional white fillings.

Replace your old metal fillings safely Many of our patients have wished they could replace their old silver or amalgam fillings, but didn’t want to endure the pain and the time it would take. Dr. Rementer offers safe and gentle replacement of metal fillings. She uses high volume suction, which cleanly removes the silver and the mercury in the amalgam fillings. She then replaces it with a new, tooth-colored composite filling.

Comfortable Dentures that fit well! It is no secret that most denture wearers don’t enjoy their dentures. We understand that. That’s why we. At the Center for “Big Problem” Dentistry are such advocates of two procedures that make wearing dentures a thing of the past. The first is our new, high-tech, state-of-the-art cone beam image system which is capable of capturing a high definition 3D image of your entire head and jaw. It is far more capable of evaluating tooth and bone health than old fashioned 2D Xrays or traditional visual examinations. Better imaging means less costly treatment which brings us to the second technique that is replacing conventional dentures in so many patients. That’s non-surgical, guided placement of dental implants. It is non-invasive, comfortable and cost effective. The entire process of assessment, treatment planning, selection of implant devices and final restoration selection is achieved “virtually” before treatment even begins. I show you, my patient, any number of computerized digital images that display the shape, density and other characteristics of your jawbone structures. I customize my implant selection (from hundreds of possibilities) to fit your special situation, place the selected implant(s) into the 3D image of your jaw, and restore the implant right before your eyes on a 30 inch monitor.

Having nonsurgical guided implants securing a denture is very appealing to most patients for multiple reasons. For starters, implant supported teeth have the same strong chewing force as those of the natural teeth they replace, people eat better. Implant supported teeth make it possible for patients to chew on hard foods like crisp apples and corn on the cob. Patients look better with implant supported dentures. When teeth are lost, ongoing shrinkage of the jawbone occurs, making the face look older. Dental implants can slow or even arrest this process. Patients with implant supported dentures enjoy a healthy and varied diet without the restrictions many traditional denture wearers face. Also, they experience a renewed self-confidence that enables them to rediscover the excitement of an active lifestyle shared with family and friends and the chance to speak clearly and comfortably with co-workers. Bottom line, my patients with dental implants feel better... they look better... they live better. Ask us more about dental implants, or other advances in dentistry that we are proud to be a part of!

The End of Headaches Living a comfortable, pain free life is not a luxury; it is something that everyone deserves. If you’re living with chronic pain, you may not be living your life to the fullest. Here at The Center for Dental Excellence for Oral & Facial Pain Management, we specialize on providing relief for two equally debilitating pains: acute and chronic tooth pain and chronic headache pain. Now, you may be wondering why a dentist should treat your headaches. Today, most headache sufferers visit their internist, or an ear, nose and throat specialist, or a psychiatrist or a neurologist or all four! However, a specially trained dentist, may well be the most qualified specialist to treat and eliminate your chronic headache pain. That’s because fully 85% of all headaches are generated by muscles of the head and neck working overtime to compensate for teeth not fitting together properly. If a person’s bite is unbalanced, there is a constant strain on the many muscles of mastication to compensate and this leads to constant pain…and to the headache. Here, at the Greensboro Headache Center, we use proprietary TruDenta therapy to repair and heal your muscles, realign your bite and eliminate your headaches. Forever. TruDenta therapy combines cutting edge technologies from neuromuscular sports medicine, physical therapy and dentistry to revolutionize the way headaches are being treated successfully without drugs or surgery. With your dental force imbalances corrected, you can expect your neck pain to be eliminated, as well. In addition to headaches, the TruDenta therapy also has a benefit for people suffering from other debilitating ailments such as TMJ/D, earaches and tinnitus. We are a TruDenta certified dentist and I urge anyone who suffers from headaches and who has given up on medical treatments to contact my practice by telephone (877-9HEADACHE to learn about new prospects for getting your life back.
