MOVIE IN THE PARK The Family Adventure Series takes on Hollywood this summer. The whole family will have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor movies on a big screen projector. The Parks & Recreation Department has a cooperative agreement with both hospitals in Mt. Vernon. Crossroads Senior Circle Club and Good Samaritan Hospital’s Healthy Heart Club both provide numerous activities for the seniors at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building throughout the year.

Teams may register into the competitive or recreational level. It is a great opportunity to gather some friends and coworkers and have some fun. Memorial Programs Created For Benches, Swings, And Trees

Now you have the opportunity to honor a loved one or commemorate a special event in your life by making a contribution to the Mt. Vernon Parks & Recreation Department in the form of a Memorial Bench, Memorial Swing, or Memorial Tree. Benches and swings have a name plate that recognizes the purpose of the donation. For more information please stop by the Parks & Recreation office.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL

The NFL Flag Football Program is a 5 on 5 instructional league for boys and girls. It is a great opportunity for boys and girls to learn the basics of football in a non-contact program. Kids will be divided into ages 6 - 8 and 9 - 11. It is a coed league so boys and girls will be playing in the same leagues. Spring/Summer 2014

The Start Smart Sports Development Program is a developmentally appropriate introductory sports program for children 3-5 years old. The Start Smart Sports Development Program prepares children and their parents for organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age appropriate equipment is used in teaching throwing, catching, and batting. The fee is $25.00 per child.
