ADVENTURE ON TWO WHEELS
TRAIL TOLERANCE A friendly greeting is a source of joy for mountain bikers and hikers alike! In the Hochkönig Bike Region, hikers and mountain bikers use the same trails. Mountain bikers and hikers treat each other respectfully and accept one another as equally entitled to use the trails. Mountain bikers brake in order to pass at a walking pace, and come to a stop on narrow paths in order to make room for hikers. When encountering bikers, hikers make room whenever possible and sensible.
Numerous trails and tours are awaiting biking enthusiasts in the Hochkönig region. One of Austria‘s most exciting MTB regions stretches out around the peak of emotions! Many tours challenge mountain bikers and e-mountain bikers and provide for pure vacation enjoyment!
• Don’t leave trash behind in the countryside! • Always act responsibly! • Use the trails only during permitted time periods! March and October, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. April and September, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. May to August, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
• Ride only on marked paths! • Obey the rules of the road! • Pass only at a walking pace! • Show respect to your fellow nature lovers and to forestry workers and hunters! • Be considerate of animals!
In the picturesque natural scenery above Maria Alm, the 2 km flow trail through forest and fields promises pure biking fun and is a wonderful experience for single trail pros as well as beginners and families. Bike transport on the dorfj@t Natrun is free. A ride on the dorfj@t Natrun is free with the Hochkönig Card.
TONI‘S FAMILY TRAIL
The fun trail for the whole family in Mühlbach leads over a length of 6.4 km and 700 vertical meters from the summit station of the Karbachalm cabin lift along forest roads and meadows to the valley station. Bike transport on the cabin lift is free. A ride on the cabin lift is free with the Hochkönig Card.
High grass mountains, endless biking opportunities, the impressive rock faces of the Steinernes Meer and the Hochkönig, flow trails, and exciting bike roads… biking enthusiasts, what more could you want? Fair and safe by bike 1. Health check Mountain biking is an endurance sport. Ensure that you are in good health and don’t overestimate your capabilities! 2. Careful planning Make thorough preparations (maps, books, internet, weather) and adjust your tour in line with the conditions! 3. Only use approved routes Only ride on roads and paths that are open to bikers and respect local restrictions! 4. Check your bike Check the brakes, air pressure, tyres, suspension and gearshift each time before heading off. Have your bike checked by an expert once a year! 5. Fully equipped No rucksack should be without the following: warm clothing, rain protection, repair kit, first aid kit, mobile phone, light, gloves, eyewear, food and drinks! 6. Always wear a helmet Whether heading uphill or downhill, always wear a helmet! Additional protectors can help prevent injury. 7. Pedestrians have the right of way Be a considerate rider by announcing your presence early and reducing your speed. Keep away from hiking paths with lots of walkers! 8. Check your speed Adjust your speed to the conditions and always be ready to use your brakes! 9. Keep it clean Controlled braking prevents soil erosion and damage to the paths. Be sure to pick up your rubbish and don’t make too much noise! 10. Show compassion for animals Ride during daylight hours to avoid disturbing the animals. Approach at walking pace and close pasture fences after passing through!
