Technology in School: Grades 5-12

All students at Regents have school Google accounts. Students in grades 5-6 have accounts with extremely limited access (Google Classroom, Drive, and Email); students in the School of Logic (7-8) have features slightly beyond those for Grammar school, and School of Rhetoric (9-12) have full school accounts. These are Google for Education accounts, and adhere to Google’s privacy policy. Only your students’ names and graduation years are provided to Google. Teachers use Google Classroom as a repository for assignments and resources, so students are never without the information they need to complete schoolwork, regardless of where they are.

Students in the Grammar School are prohibited from changing their passwords, so parents have full access at any time to their account information. Grammar and SOL email accounts are locked, and may only send or receive emails within the Regents domain.

Students in grades 7-12 use the Regents Student Wi-Fi network, which has limitations appropriate for students. Use of devices (phones, tablets, Chromebooks, laptops, and any other devices) during school hours is governed by policies set by the Head of Logic and Head of Rhetoric. Please read the technology policy in The Standard for more information. 5th, 6th, SOL and SOR have classroom sets of Chromebooks for student use as needed. For questions regarding Google, Gmail, Google Classroom, Google Calendar, or problems with passwords, please contact IT Support at parentsupport@regentsaustin.org. Students grades 5-8, and new students grades 9-12 will receive their login information from their teachers.
