Hurriyah made its debut at the National Service-Learning Conference, DC, in April 2015, where it attracted enthusiastic responses from the audience. The dialogic exchange between artworks from Al-Zaatari and audience responses became the driving concept for the second issue of Hurriyah - a simple desire to reach out to one another as fellow humans across barriers, ultimately to re-humanize the dehumanized refugee experience.
