Fueling the Nation Oil and gas industry leaders come together from around the region to learn, network and discover new products that will influence future energy decisions. This month will see the Kingdom host an array of events that will look into ways of advancing the energy industry. The Middle East Petroleum and Gas Week (MEOW) will host six different events that will bring together over 50 speakers and an estimated 600 professionals. The event, first launched in 1997, is now an integrated umbrella of activities established as a platform for knowledge-sharing and networking. At the heart of MEOW will be the Annual Middle East Petroleum and Gas Conference (MPGC 2012). Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the MPGC will act as a focal point for leading industry organisations in the business to gather, share and exchange views. Key issues and challenges will be discussed by international experts such as keynote speakers Said A. Al-Hadrami, president and CEO of Aramco Trading, and Ian Taylor, president and CEO of Vitol Group of Companies. Adding to the roster of events will be the first Base Oil and lubes Middle East (BLM 2012). This conference will serve as a platform for all senior-level decision makers from the global base oil and lubricant industry. It will provide an insightful analysis into this crucial region and will discuss issues that are fundamental to how the oil markets evolve with industry leaders. Next up will be the Production Sharing Contracts and International Petroleum Fiscal Systems. This course is a must-attend for those responsible for new ventures, exploration, corporate planning as well as oil company legal counsel, geologists and engineers. With recent fundamental changes in the Middle East gas market, the 6th Annual Middle East Gas Insiders promises to tackle the industry’s hottest topics. Closing the round up of courses will be the Gasoline and Diesel Blending Technology and Economics. This two-day course will address contemporary issues faced in the industry such as the environmental impact of various gas and diesel specifications. Petrochemicals and technology Running simultaneously to MEOW will be the Middle East Petrotech 2012 which will focus primarily on the refining, gas and petrochemical field. The conference will feature experts from refining and marketing organisations worldwide and centre on the theme ‘Creating Value: Technology, Investment and People’.
