Change is Good What really makes or breaks any venue is its ambience. One of Bahrain’s coolest shisha cafés did it right; one year later, they are reaping the success of their refurbishment.

Those who enjoyed the shisha experience Aroma Café has to offer truly missed the venue while they shut their doors for renovation. That was over a year ago. One step into this café and you will see that the major makeover has definitely paid off. The new décor brought new life to the Middle Eastern shisha concept by creating a setting that is warm and inviting with a distinctly breezy, brasserie feel to it. But they weren’t stupid to stop at interiors. They redid everything under their roof (including the roof, of course) from the menu to service. Making the most of its newfound space, the restaurant now comfortably accommodates up to 300 patrons. The winning feature, however, is the five beautifully appointed private dining rooms equipped with LCD screens, Xbox stations, DVD players, iPod docks, USB connections which is a rarity in the island. So, if you’re looking for a place to chill out with your friends, family or partners without being bothered by other guests, this is the place to be. Another favourite of the guests is the provision of a non-smoking section for those who come here to enjoy their extensive selection of food with a view of the open kitchen. The refurbished eatery features bold designs that are balanced by a backdrop of mirrored walls which reflect the plush oriental gold and crimson fittings. They are bursting with fabrics that are strewn with mismatched, hand-embroidered cushions and accessories that may well have belonged to the characters from the sets of One Thousand and One Nights. The efficient staff serves fresh and flavoured shisha while you lose yourself in the time-honoured pleasures of backgammon, cards and dominoes. All that relaxation can work

up an appetite. Chef Ehab Al Orabi’s menu of traditional Lebanese mezze and grills, classic Moroccan dishes, oldfashioned Arabian specialties and modern continental offerings are just right. A mood of reclining on a divan and contemplating while enjoying the succulent tastes of the Orient served in an informal, vibrant atmosphere permeates every aspect of this restaurant. Featuring an irresistibly delicious menu, friendly service and a wide range of recreational amusements, Aroma Café, is the perfect choice for a casual ‘drop in’ dining and special occasions alike.
