The Hunger Games RATING: DIRECTED BY: Gary Ross STARRING: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson,
THE PLOT: In a dystopian future, the totalitarian nation of Panem is
divided between 12 districts and the Capitol. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors. When her sister is selected as District 12’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place promising to win so she can come home.
This is one of those movies where you’re left screaming, “Are you kidding me?” You’re never sure what to feel about this one. You’ll leave the cinema hall with the zonked feeling you might get if you just got out of a spinning dryer. The only reason people should admit they find this movie amazing is if they are aye-men with no opinion of their own. We felt violated; we hope you don’t have to. It’s just blank and boring to the last second.
VERDICT: Choose the book. It might stand a chance as compared to the movie.
Wrath of the Titans Is it worth watching in 3D? Definitely. Is it worth watching? Not so much. There isn’t so much ‘wrath’ as the title gives away. There was zero passion for a mission that seemed silly and worthless. With this series, it is a sort of addiction. You know it’s going to be bad, but you watch it anyway.
Mirror Mirror We should have listened when people warned us against this one. And suffer we did for doing otherwise. If you had a checklist to review this one, there’d be crosses all over the place. It lacks a strong plot. The jokes are flying all over the place. Julia Roberts should just not have done this to herself.
