YOGA TRAINING SEPTEMBER 27-28

GROOVYKIDS YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

NAMASTE BAHRAIN

Due to popular demand, this highly acclaimed 30-hour training programme returns to Bahrain for the second time. Learn what works and why, learn a sequence that you can teach repeatedly, and discover how to vary it easily. Incorporating simple breathing techniques and songs into practice, learn what a well-balanced kids’ yoga movement class is about, accompanied by theory and practice, with a free GroovyKids® Yoga demo class at the end. You will gain knowledge and insight into your strengths and thought patterns and will come away ready to teach kids yoga anywhere. The focus is on equipping a teacher to make a curriculum of classes so they can create a complete year in a school or studio and enabling you to understand more deeply why yoga is not just for Indian people in the Himalayas or super-fit girls on Instagram, but for every kid in the world who wants to do it. The workshop runs from 9am to 5pm and has various price packages. No previous experience needed to participate. Call 17 591-565.

RHYMES IN RIFFA SEPTEMBER 28

THE COLOURS OF LIFE POETRY FESTIVAL

RIFFA VIEWS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

The Colours of Life is the annual poetry festival organised by The Second Circle, a sister group of the Bahrain Writers’ Circle (BWC). The BWC owes the concept, character and energy of the festival to founder David Hollywood’s vision and dedication. The first Colours of Life was held in 2012 and featured 15 poets representing almost as many nationalities: Bahrain, Malaysia, the USA and Canada, India, Ireland, Yemen and the Netherlands. The poets recited and performed around 60 pieces that ranged in mood and emotion from white and black through grey, purple, lavender, blue, red, gold and rust to yellow and green all the way back to white. The troupe included Bahraini poets who presented Arabic poems. Since then almost every year, except in 2014, the BWC has held the unique Colours of Life Poetry Festival. It is perhaps the only bilingual (Arabic and English) poetry presentation in Bahrain that includes a multicultural, multi-ethnic cast of poets from a wide variety of countries including, this year, Bahrain, Britain, Canada, Germany, India, Malaysia, Pakistan and Yemen – 20 poets featuring 34 poems. It may well be the only poetry festival on the island that includes musical and visual accompaniment to the works. The Colours of Life Poetry Festival will be held at the school’s LEVEL 5 – a unique non-profit professional learning centre that hosts a myriad of learning experiences for students, educators and the wider community to create, collaborate and grow. For a full listing of the events and workshops, check out www.thelevel5.org/ bahrain. Admission is free. Parking is available. All guests to please bring their CPR/ID card for entrance.
