The Wentworth Main Mine, located on the

www.homesguide.com.au

eastern side of the village, relates to the 1890s and 1930s mining booms. The entire mining area was situated on land initially owned by William Charles Wentworth; the gold field was known as the Wentworth Field until the name Lucknow was adopted in 1863. It is said the name ‘Lucknow’ derived from good prosperity the town offered i.e. luck now. The Wentworth Main Mine tells the story of goldmining in the Central West, from its early stages in the 1850s, through three stages, until its closure in the 1950s. It has been estimated that the fields yielded around 14,000 kg of gold in all. One hundred and sixty years on, the landscape around Lucknow is still dominated by its gold mining heritage. Poppet heads, mine buildings, mullock heaps & bluestone dam walls are still plainly visible in & around the village.Lucknow, near Orange, which was worked extensively from 1862 to 1867, yielding 504 474 oz to 1923. ROBERT BRAIN: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL TAPESTRY 13 May - 26 June 2016 Robert Brain’s prolific tapestry practice explores themes such as homoerotica, art history and gender politics and is imbued with irreverent humour and unexpected juxtapositions. This survey illustrates eight decades of the artist’s remarkable life: from his childhood in Tasmania; life in London and Europe in the 50s, 60s and 70s; career as an anthropologist and academic; widespread travels; and life in the Blue Mountains where he is now based. A Bathurst Regional Art Gallery exhibition For more information visit bathurstart.com.au BATHURST PAN DRAGONS Bathurst Pan Dragons had their first time on water in January 2011 with a ‘Come and Try’ Day to recruit new members. Dragon boats NSW generously gave some time to help coach people in the boat and help

with the day. The club was formed after discussions with the local Bathurst Regional Council in October 2010 to include more boating activities at the dam than just fishing, water skiing & motor boats. Their boat is quite long and fits 20 paddlers, coach/drummer at the front and sweep at the rear to steer the boat (22 in total). The club continues to grow steadily with new and casual members. In the club’s short history they have managed to raise funds to buy their own boat and a trailer to get the boat in and out of the water and built a shed. The club travels several times throughout the year to take part in regattas against other clubs from around NSW. Recently they ventured overseas to their first international Regatta in Wellington, NZ joining with Broadwater Dragons from the Gold Coast where they secured a Silver Medal in the mixed masters class. tbs agave or maple syrup in a bowl. Line a sieve with muslin and place over a bowl. Spoon the yoghurt mixture into the sieve and lightly tie the edges together to enclose. Place the mixture in the fridge overnight to drain. Step 2 Meanwhile, preheat oven to 180C. Place nectarines, cut-side up, in a roasting pan. Combine the remaining agave or maple syrup with vanilla and remaining cinnamon. Drizzle over the nectarines. Roast for 25-30 mins or until tender. Set aside to cool slightly. Step 3 Spread the thickened yoghurt mixture over the toasted sourdough. Place on serving plates and top with nectarines. Sprinkle with mint leaves to serve. Source: www.taste.com.au
