Christmas Open House at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill on December 2, 2012 from 2-4pm Brookneal, VA – The annual Christmas Open House at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. The Patrick Henry Auxiliary sponsors this event and cordially invites the public to attend; admission is complimentary. Guests will be treated to docent-guided tours of the historic buildings at Red Hill, including Patrick Henry’s house, Law Office, and other buildings, all decorated by the Red Hill Garden Club. There will also be demonstrations of flax to linen, spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, and limited children’s activities, including ornament making with pottery. Complimentary hot mulled cider and cookies will be available throughout the afternoon. Brunswick stew will also be provided by the Charlotte County Lions Club and will be available for sale after complimentary servings. The gift shop will be offering a 10% discount on its regular shop merchandise on this special day. Quilt raffle tickets will be available for $1 donation (or 6 for $5) during this event, and the drawing will be held on Monday, December 3rd, so plan to get in on the chance to win this spectacular queen/king handmade quilt. The annual sale of boxwood wreaths and boxwood kissing balls, with proceeds benefiting the Patrick Henry Auxiliary, is currently underway. Reserved wreaths and kissing balls are available beginning November 30th and will be available at the Christmas Open House as supplies last. These wreaths cost only $25 each and kissing balls $10 each and both are handmade using locally grown boxwood.
