You don’t have to spend loads of cash to make great memories on the Island! There are heaps of fun things to do and they don’t all have to cost money. Here are some ideas for free days out to get you started…

10AM DAY ONE 10AM DAY TWO
Start your day the Isle of Wight way with a countryside walk to wake you up! Pack up the bikes and scooters and let the kids ride along the cycle path from Quarr Abbey to Fishbourne! If you’re feeling adventurous head down to Fishbourne beach. Say hello to Red Merlin and his friends at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. It’s completely free to enter (donations are welcomed) and you get the chance to meet over 98 donkeys and 26 adorable ponies in their forever home!
TREAT: Morning necessities! Grab your morning co ee from Quarr Abbey’s farm shop and café. TREAT: Fancy a souvenir? Adopt a donkey or pick up some “Donkey Poop” confectionery from the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary’s gift shop.
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to picnic locations! The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has a wonderful picnic area with great views and Quarr Abbey has plenty of spots to enjoy your picnic in the sun!
TREAT: Eating Out for lunch? Both the Donkey Sanctuary and Quarr Abbey have on-site cafés with fantastic lunch menus.
2PM DAY ONE 2PM DAY TWO
The Island’s greatest asset is its coastline: you’re surrounded by beaches, each o ering something unique! Head to Appley, Sandown or Shanklin beach for a mega sandcastle competition, take a dip in the sea at Ventnor Beach or go on a fossil hunt at Yaverland! Kids love a playground and this one is pretty impressive! Make your way to Puckpool Park in Ryde and let the little ones run wild in the adventure playground. Swings, slides and zip wires are just a few things to tire out the kids this afternoon! This is also a great picnic spot!
TREAT: Afternoon treat! Indulge in a delicious ice cream from one of the many seaside favourites including Crave in Ventnor or Toppings in Shanklin. TREAT: Extra Fun… Puckpool Park also has tennis courts, crazy golf and junior quad bikes (for ages 6-9)!
