LIVE EVENTS

Main House Friday 10th February : 7.30pm (RT 2 hours 20 mins approx including interval)) Cloud Nine presents

THE MUSIC OF GEORGE HARRISON This year marks the fifteenth anniversary of the passing of George Harrison. To commemorate this occasion an ensemble of 12 musicians have come together to create ‘CLOUD NINE’ a band celebrating his life and works.

www.twitter.com/redditchpalace

For many George’s music is the most moving and inspirational, with spirituality and love being at the forefront of every number. His appeal reaches across age groups and his contribution to modern music still influences musicians today. Combining tracks from his solo career and his additions to the Beatles back catalogue. This is a show that covers all aspects of George’s career. It is inspired by the ‘Concert for George’ from 2002. An event organised by Eric Clapton which took place a year to the day of George’s passing, where many of George’s dearest musical friends came together at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate his life. This project has been in development for many years. Musical director, Jon Auty, has been inspired by George all of his adult life and the idea of having a band able to play George’s music is a dream come true. “After I’d watched the ‘Concert for George’ I thought what a huge sound. I realised I would need a 10-12 piece band to reproduce that. I wanted to celebrate his music without being a Beatles’ tribute band. None of us are trying to look like George Harrison we just want to give a respectful ‘nod’ to his musical genius.” Tickets £21.00* *inclusive of booking fee £1 per ticket up to a maximum of £4 Age: Suitable for all

There's panic on the streets. Terrorists, politicians and Kardashians have made the human race hell-bent on it's own selfdestruction. Luckily, Sean McLoughlin (the misanthrope's misanthrope) has been hitting the self-destruction button his whole life and might just have the experience to get us all through this fog. There are flies in the ointment though: Our hero is dealing with the collapse of his long-term relationship and has spiralled into his own existential crisis. Before he can help out his fellow man he has to grapple with some of the worries exploding in his mind. What is love? What is hate? Why am I doing these things? What's that smell? All these will be tackled head-on in Sean's spectacular new show, and only one question will remain: Could this warped and lanky fool really be the man to kick start the resurrection of our species? 28 year-old Sean McLoughlin is now widely considered to be one of biggest talents currently working in U.K. stand-up. His 2015 show Whatever It Takes was met with tremendous critical and commercial success at the Edinburgh Fringe, and embarked on a 28-date tour that played to packed houses including runs at the Soho Theatre and at the Rotterdam International Comedy Festival. Sean's ascendancy has been cemented by recent appearances on Russell Howard's Stand-Up Central and Comedy Central Live At The Comedy Store, as well as high-profile tour supports for Doc Brown and Katherine Ryan. STEVE PARRISH - MAD TOUR Enjoy the life and times of Steve Parrish (Stavros) which provide a completely different, colourful, humorous and, at times daring portrayal of this man’s career. Steve Parrish raced at the highest level of motorcycle racing, with his highest finish coming in the 1977 500cc Grand Prix season, as team mate to that year’s champion Barry Sheene. Barry who met Steve in 1975 is quoted as saying “ if he was to set up his bike as well as his victims and had put as much effort into the bike as he did the intricate pranks he pulled on people he would certainly be a World Champion”. Steve then dabbled with sports car racing before moving to truck racing “because it was less painful than riding bikes”. Steve was the BBC commentator for Moto GP and is now a pundit for BTs coverage of the sport. He has been commentating since 1988, but he is equally famous in the world of motorsport for his pranks, and the real reason for this show. With a life full of scrapes, near misses and funnies, including riding Barry Sheen’s bike to qualify for the world championship, filling rooms of sport personalities with live frogs, and jumping hire cars from second floor car parks in Daytona onto the beach. The list is endless and all will be revealed in a non-stop show, bringing smiles to your faces. His antics have led to a visit from “Beadles About” and have also seen him locked up in a Hong Kong jail for blowing up a brothel. Steve flies his own 4 seat aircraft, plays golf badly, shoots clays, hosts track days and even has an entry in the Guinness Book of Records, he attends after dinner events as a guest speaker, all of which offer more opportunities and more victims. For more information about Steve, take a look at his website www.steveparrishracing.com Tickets £20.00* and £18.50* (disc rate) *inclusive of booking fee £1 per ticket up to a maximum of £4

SWEENEY TODD A Musical Thriller

Orchestrations by JONATHAN TUNICK. Originally produced on Broadway by Richard Barr, Charles Woodward, Robert Fryer, Mary Lea Johnson, Martin Richards in association with Dean and Judy Manos

Unanimously acclaimed by the critics as one of Stephen Sondheim’s most powerful scores, this black comedy concerns the infamous homicidal career of Sweeney, the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who coveted his young wife and falsely imprisoned him. Cheated of his revenge against the Judge, Sweeney’s thirst for blood soon expands to include his unfortunate customers, and - with the aid of his razor - he exacts a far more terrible revenge, cheerfully helped by Mrs. Lovett, who is delighted to give new life to her flavourless meat pies! Sophisticated, macabre, visceral and uncompromising, Sweeney Todd mixes intense drama with dark humour: - audiences find themselves laughing one moment, and gasping in surprise at the next…. We can’t promise Johnny Depp but we can promise some intriguing twists, turns and surprises ….and some interestingly made pies!!
