The two-hour theatre show includes faithful renditions of classic studio tracks along with extended live versions from some of the legendary Dire Straits concerts.

David Steele, Kris Chase-Byrne and Sophie Grogan, collectively known as Encore! have joined with their talented friends to produce this one-night-only charity performance for the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation. Join them in a night of musical theatre classics, which promises to be a night to remember!

No other Dire Straits tribute act comes as close to reproducing Mark Knopfler’s distinctive guitar and vocal tones – making Dire Streets as near to the original band as you can see live. The six-piece band is made up of some of the country’s top tribute musicians and delivers a stunning show. They make no attempt to look like the original so no headbands or pink suits, just brilliant songs skilfully played with the enthusiasm and respect they deserve.

Rubbing shoulders with comedy giants like Gus Elan, Harry Champion, and the rest, they’ve picked up the trail, first blazed by Dave and his late brother, Al, leading to ‘sweet Saturday a bellyful of, “Boiled Beef and Carrots”, a bellyful of ale, and a bellyful of laughs at some of the greatest songs ever written. And now, like all time travellers, they’re back, and they’ve brought those wonderful songs back with them. For Cosmotheka, these absurdly comic masterpieces are no longer yesterdays... they’re todays...‘Cosmotheka and Friends’ played to full houses here earlier in the year and are delighted to be back once more. Book by Richard Bean Music by David Arnold Lyrics by Richard Thomas Based on the Wooley/Kartsen/Number 9 Motion Picture

In 1968 just under 200 female workers walked out of the Dagenham Ford Motor Company factory protesting about their unskilled worker grading. Men, who did the same level of work, were placed in a semi-skilled grade. The women wanted recognition for their work. This protest led to the shutdown of the whole plant, meetings with then Secretary of State for Employment, Barbara Castle and eventually, the introduction of the UK’s Equal Pay Act.

Made In Dagenham follows the worker’s story in a witty and emotional script with contrasting lively and thoughtful musical numbers culminating in a feel good, uplifting finale. Come and follow this true story and meet the characters involved, including Barbara Castle, then Prime Minister Harold Wilson and, of course, the amazing group of ladies and their menfolk.

Malcolm Stent and Don McLean have a lot in common. Both are Birmingham born. Both are comedians, actors and authors. They have had had their own radio and TV shows, have starred in theatre and in pantomimes and have been entertaining and making audiences laugh for many years. But different! They have different comedy styles - Don machine guns his audiences with gags and keeps moving, Malcolm has the ability to stand still, speaking to his audience slowly and explaining as he goes along. Don likes to dress in a suit and bow tie, Malcolm prefers a rugby shirt and chinos. This evening will be an opportunity to see them in a way you’ve not seen them before, as they share the stage in a show in which they will meander through their lives, with tales about themselves, their TV and radio shows, theatre and pantomimes and lots, lots more.

Now in its 3rd year, hosted by Matt Green for the UK National Drum Fair, a monthly drum clinic invites some of the UK’s top drumming talent to perform in the Palace Studio. The clinics are interactive, inspirational and educational. There is also the opportunity for a deserving local player every month to join the clinic via an open audition held a few weeks before. So whether you are a student, amateur or playing regularly in a band and would like the chance of playing with some of the country’s leading drummers, please fill the form and the ‘Apply to Play’ page:

Hailing from Barnsley Rock City in t’North, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican are on a mission! Determined to follow in their spiritual father’s immortal footsteps and keep his legacy alive, they have a talent for Bar-Stewardizing other famous people’s songs with new comedy lyrics, on acoustic geetar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, accordion, keyboard, keytar, and the world’s first synthesiser ukulele! To complete their squeaky-clean image, brothers-from-othermothers Scott, Björn and Alan have become instantly recognisable for their immaculate hair and their stylish choice of knitwear.

As a singer, actor, film-maker and conductor, Frank Sinatra was a 20th century icon like no other. Unsurprisingly, thanks to classics like ‘My Way’; ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ and ‘Strangers In The Night’, he dominated popular music for seven decades!

www.palacedrumclinic.com/ index.html

They continue to wow audiences with a fine selection of their greatest hits, including the likes of “Jump Ararnd”, “The Lady In Greggs”, “How Deep Is Your Glove?”, “Nandos”, “Paint ‘em Back”, “Walking In Manpiss” and “If I Could Punch A Face… It’d Be Justin Bieber’s”.

Frank may be long-gone, but his music is timeless, and now there’s a chance to re-live his songs in a completely different way, via musician Keith Slater’s show, ‘Sinatra Celebration’. This isn’t a tribute show, or an evening of impressions, but it is a celebration of Sinatra’s music, enhanced with stateof-the-art computer graphics and projection, alongside film footage and photos from the archives.

Not bad for a daft little independent comedy band from Barnsley, eh?

One of the glories of Britain’s industrial heritage is the astonishing network of canals that weave their way across the countryside and through many of our towns and cities. Today we take them for granted, but had it not been for the super human efforts of a small band of volunteers and enthusiasts we would have lost this incredible legacy for ever. Using wonderful and rare colour film shot by some of those volunteers, David Parker will talk about why Britain’s canals were once so important to the nation’s prosperity, why they were almost lost and how this band of intrepid volunteers brought them back to life and saved them for the nation, and how he captured the story for television.

THE LOST FILMS OF WORLD WAR TWO 2hr + Interval

Fri 8th November - 7:45pm £13.00* £12.00* (disc) An illustrated talk by television programme maker, David Parker. From the outbreak of war in 1939 to its bitter conclusion in 1945 a few men and women in Britain and remarkably, Germany, managed to film war as it came to their cities, towns and villages. Some soldiers took their film cameras to the battle front, and captured the horror of war as it unfolded before their eyes. Others captured the nightmare of blitz, and the hardships of bombing. David Parker spent years collecting many of these films that had been forgotten for decades and in this illustrated talk he will use clips (some of them, even years later, distressing to watch) to reveal war as it was seen through the film cameras of ordinary men and women caught up in the most extraordinary times.

Following its sold out smash hit debut tour, Seven Drunken Nights – The Story of The Dubliners returns to theatres in 2019 with an even bigger production.

Following the rapturous standing ovation given to COSMOTHEKA at the 2017 Bromyard Folk Festival 50th anniversary, Dave & Dan Sealey, along with Adam Barry, have been catapulted back into the limelight, back into the rough and tumble working class world of the Music Hall.

The one and only Barry Steele takes on the role of ‘The Big O,’ in The Roy Orbison Story®. He comes with great credentials and a genuine admiration for Roy Orbison. Following his West End debut at The Adelphi Theatre, Barry is set to put the rock back into ‘Roy Orbison’ as he takes to the stage to commemorate this legend in ‘The Roy Orbison Story’ In Concert.

2hr 20mins + Interval

Direct from the West End, the show brings to life the music of Ireland’s favorite sons ‘The Dubliners’. Telling the story of a career spanning 50 years and evoking the spirit of Ronnie Drew, Luke Kelly, Barney McKenna, Jim McCann, Ciaran Bourke and John Sheahan. This talented cast of musicians and singers bring the music of this iconic group to life. A performance that will have you singing and clapping along to such classics as The Wild Rover, The Black Velvet Band, The Irish Rover, Molly Malone, Finnegan’s Wake, McAlpines Fusileers, Raglan Road and of course The Seven Drunken Nights. This celebration of the music of The Dubliners is a celebration of Irish music itself and a guaranteed evening of music, humour and ‘craic’.

The boys will be joined once again for all three shows by singers Karen Heard and Claire Fowler from the popular vocal duo Remini -Sing- who will be bringing their rich vocals and some wonderful harmonies to the proceedings.

WITH ROBERT POWELL & SUE JAMESON

Charles Dickens can truly be said to have invented our traditional Christmas. In this seasonal show we reveal Dickens the celebrity, the social reformer, the actor, the entrepreneur, and, above all, Dickens the supreme entertainer. We celebrate his life and times through his writings and scenes from his best-loved novels, with a seasonal twist, tasting the varied delights of winter ice-skating, Pickwick’s Christmas party, the magic of the newly-introduced Christmas tree, festive feasting and philanthropy, and goodwill to all men! Not forgetting, of course, that perennial favourite, A Christmas Carol, and all interwoven with seasonal merriment and music. Although a writer from the Victorian era, Dickens’s work transcends his time, language and culture. He remains a massive contemporary influence throughout the world and his writings continue to inspire film, TV, art, literature, artists and academia. Wednesday 27th November - 7:30pm £21.00* £84.00* (box - max 4 people) Everyone loves a great variety show... just look at Britain’s Got Talent. Well here is a show that is bursting at the seams with talent! Not only that, but it is full of variety... comedy, music and even a tribute or two! Let’s start with the comedy - Dandy are the number one comedy act on the Black Country circuit and are now causing a storm at the Peaky Blinder theme nights!! We have a new act on the show… an original Fizzog, Emma Rollason is bringing her wonderful tribute to the original Black Country comedienne, ‘Dolly Allen’’. Ladies and Gentlemen, the musical accompaniment will be from Joe Thomas who made a massive impression on his theatre debut last year. He’s back with his ukulele (I know it looks like a banjo). Last, but certainly not least, the incredibly talented Vivo. Great musicians who put on a wonderful show… we know you are going to love them. PalaceTheatreRedditch redditchpalace

COUNT ARTHUR STRONG ‘IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?’ Friday 29th November - 7:30pm £22.00*

£88.00* (box - max 4 people)

As well as being the all-round entertainer we all know and love from the telly, Count Arthur Strong is also a lifelong fan of astronomy, since having been given a microscope, or whatever it is they use, for Christmas when he was a small precocious baby. In fact, it’s said the first word he spoke was ‘Uranus’. In this, his brandnew show, he seamlessly combines the very best showbiz entertainment you’ll currently find, in the world, possibly? as he wrestles with some of the big questions that other all-round entertainers shy away from. Such as: Are we alone in the Universe? Is there life on Mars bars? 2lbs of potatoes. Packet of ginger nuts. Don’t lose this shopping list.

‘Do not miss this not to be missed type of thing! If I wasn’t in the show I’d definitely be in the audience watching myself intently. Laughing and learning in equal measure. Thoroughly happy to pay the admission fee and definitely not asking for a refund. Also not rustling sweet wrappers and fiddling with my sodding telephone with a gormless expression on my face. See you there!’.
