Claude Bourbon is known throughout Europe and America for amazing guitar performances that take Blues, Spanish, and Middle Eastern stylings into uncharted territories. His inimitable style incorporates all five digits on each hand dancing independently, but in unison, plucking, picking and strumming at such speed and precision that his fingers often seem to melt into a blur. Thousands of people in the UK, Europe and USA have enjoyed listening to this virtuoso performer, many returning again and again to hear and watch him play, as his fingers lightly dance over the strings of his guitar and create a unique sound that is ’Claude’, weaving his songs through the audience as if on a journey through life, taking in different flavours of Europe and beyond as he moves from classical openings, across a whole continent of cultural roots, from the Balearic’s to the Balkans, and then across to the Mississippi Delta and, shoehorned into all that, is music that would not have been out of place in the courts of Emperors and Kings.

Director - Steve Skinner Musical Director - Michael Dhonau Offenbach’s naughty French romp through Greek Mythology, with the famous Can-Can. Orpheus and Eurydice find themselves trapped in a dull marriage, so are both ‘playing away’! Unfortunately the object of Eurydice’s affections turns out to be none other than Pluto, the ‘Devil in Disguise’, so when she gets carried off to the Underworld, Jupiter, the King of the Gods, gets jealous and wants her for himself.

Eurydice meanwhile finds that life in the Underworld is more Hell than Heaven, so when Orpheus is forced to try and get her back, events take an interesting ‘turn’ ! It’s a very irreverent take on a very ancient myth, given a modern twist in this production by Astwood Bank Operatic Society, local specialists in Gilbert & Sullivan, early Musicals and Operetta.

This amateur production is presented in arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe) on behalf of Josef Weinberger Ltd

Immerse yourself in an enchanting evening featuring the musical brilliance of Richard and Karen Carpenter.

Europe’s Official Long-Standing Premier 1980’s Multi-Tribute Concert Show!

From ‘Close to You’, all of their chart-topping hits feature, including ‘Top of the World’, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’, ‘Goodbye to Love’, ‘Please Mr Postman’, ‘For All We Know’ and ‘Only Yesterday’, all superbly performed live in concert, just as they would have been by the Carpenters back in the day at the Talk of the Town, London Palladium or on some of their International tours, including Japan. Indeed, West End star and director Vikki Holland-Bowyer not only perfectly emulates Karen’s legendary rich contralto, she even gets behind the drums! Also, the Carpenters’ on stage light-hearted humour is captured perfectly as Greg Stevenson effortlessly recreates Richard’s sublime piano playing, supported by a band oozing Seventies glitz. When we were young we’d listen to the radio, waiting for our favourite songs – now we can enjoy them live, performed just how they would have been by the Carpenters during their heyday.
