NOVEMBER 23, 2018

WELCOME! My does time seem to fly by. It seems faster every year! Again this year we had some very exciting things going on. This fall we sold our highest selling heifer and steer ever in our September Private Treaty sale. I know there was some concern about the farming economy however; the demand for high quality cattle is still strong. Quality is the king. I’ve known this for years. This year’s bred selections are an elite group and top notched as ever! Be sure to make plans to come see them in person, we would love to have you. I guarantee you will have fun sorting through this group. One big change this year is that we are not mailing out catalogs, instead the catalog will be viewed ONLINE ONLY. The cost of catalogs along with my lack of confidence in the postal service has pushed me to this decision. Check it out online and know that sale day we will have handouts available with lot, pedigree and breeding information on. As always we look forward to visiting with you about the cattle. Don’t be afraid to contact myself or Dacota with any questions. See you on Black Friday! - Chad, Kim, Skyler and Dacota

Here’s one of the special features! We’ve retained her daughter back as a replacement to keep her genetics in the herd. This is how one should be made. Easy doing and powerful but easy to admire. Her Pays To Believe calf could easily pay for her. After she calves, get to flushing her. She was on the list to flush Spring 2019 but I’m loading up this sale…it’s a special event!

MISS JACKIE

BD: Spring 2014 | PB SImmi | ASA #3030624 SIRE: ONE EYED JACK | DAM: EBONY TRADEMARK AI: 5.30 to Brigade | PE: Brigade

A very productive purebred cow that has done a great job for us. In our herd we have a really good Affliction daughter of Miss Jackie. One Eyed Jack has done a great job for us. Karlee Spear showed a purebred sister to this female that won several Jr. Beef Breed shows and Reserve Champion at the state field day.

MISS JACKIE 702

BD: Spring 2017 | PB Simmi SIRE: ONE EYED JACK | DAM: CHOPPER AI: 4.17 to Uno Mas | PE: Primo Lut

High potential here! Her dam 410 is a beast! A full sib to this female was a bad ass baldy bull that we called Shotgun, we used him for cleanup. Backed by a superior cow and the potential can be unlimited. This bred is Ai’d to Uno Mas. We’ve seen for a fact that he can produce a high seller. This year’s high seller in our private treaty sale was an offspring of Uno Mas selling for $81,000 on a first calf heifer. It can happen and in fact it does happen!

BD: Spring 2017 | 3/4 SImmi SIRE: CLASSIFIED | DAM: MISS DRAKE AI: 5.29 to Pay The Price | PE: Primo Lut

Baldy Alert! Baldies always make great producers. Her sire, Classified was the hot young bull that sold in the Hudson Pines dispersal for $75,000. If you want to make awesome PB show heifers, you need some ¾ Simmental cows to consistently make them. This girl right here fits that bill.

11 MISS MACHO BD: Spring 2010 SIRE: MACHO | DAM: ANGUS AI: 6.14 to Revolution | PE: Revolution

I could write a story on the production and value of Macho cows here at HCC. From a cowman, they have beautiful udders and they have growth and body. Every year they do their job. Owned by: Minnaert Show Cattle

With great excitement, we bring you an exciting set of registered Angus bred females. Growing up showing Angus cattle and our first 10 years of our program was focused on the production of Angus cattle. For 30 years we have kept breeding Angus cattle. We have never stopped; we may have slowed way down for a few years but its full speed ahead now.

Mixed in this group of home raised breds are females which we purchased from Cherry Knoll Angus, PA. Their manager, Tim Fitzgerald is a great friend and a former teammate of the Oklahoma State Livestock judging team. They have an extremely aggressive ET program and currently do not have a bred female production sale. So I felt it would be a great fit for us to incorporate them in our Rising Stars sale.

My kind of Angus, deep and powerful. This was my top pick of the Cherry Knoll group as calves. Her grand dam was the 2007 National Western Stock Show Grand Champion Angus female. This is cow power leading off the Angus division.

Extremely feminine female with power in the blood. Her grand dam like lot 12 was also the 2007-2008 ROV show heifer of the year. Insights are high numbered and dominate the show ring.

Dam of Lot 14

Here’s a full sister to the Cherry Knoll Lot 1 of last year’s Cherry Knoll sale that sold for $30,000. This younger version of her sister could easily be our lot 1 on quality. Every angle of this Rising Star is great! Study her up. Her pedigree is good but her build and hair will be the attraction on sale day. Ladies and gentlemen, this female will make purebred Angus or outstanding half blood Simmentals that will compete.

This is a direct daughter of the high ribeye and top pick from the Connealy herd in Nebraska. Her sisters have won at the national shows. Lot 15 puts it all together. Primo on this one could be the next future success story. I’ll go on record, in my opinion this is how Primo needs to be mated, long and extended.

Another big time favorite here from Cherry Knoll. I love the Classen cattle because they are hairy, sound and just good. A Classen daughter took the National Jr. Show by storm. The champion and 3rd overall in the owned show were spectacular. If you want quality, she fits the bill. She’s versatile.

BD: Spring 2016 | Mainetainer SIRE: DADDY’S MONEY | DAM: ANGUS/MAINE AI: 5.23 to Fair and Square | PE: Affliction

WOW, WOW, WOW! That’s how I describe this one. She will speak for herself, she’s that good. Benz daughters are excellent uddered and lot 23’s mother is an ideal cow. It’s showtime here just like #23 of the LA Lakers.

This productive 3 year old was one of our top replacements that we kept back last year. I felt her upside was good. She calved and is a super mother however; somehow her calf broke his front leg in the first week in the pasture so we had to put him down. It sure wasn’t her fault for lack of effort. But I thought she would add quality to our Rising Stars sale.

What goes around comes around. Jason purchased this ones mother in our bred sale for $2,400 and she has made a great cow. Jason said “I’m bringing the best to the Rising Stars!” Since she’s the best in his bred heifer pen, she’s coming here! Pay attention to this one!

Our Charolais division is not big but she is elite and represents the division really well. Her twins, Lot 32 & 33 have been a joy to watch and develop. These two have amazed me since the day they were born. I can’t tell them apart. The one thing I can tell you about both of them is that they are really good. They are Fall holdovers so it gives them that extra size and power of the group. I could talk about both sides of their pedigrees with huge passion, words only go so far, and these two speak for themselves. This is a unique opportunity that I thought I would never offer. BD: Spring 2017 | Composite SIRE: HERE I AM | DAM: DR. MEYER AI: 4.26 to Daddy’s Money | PE: Primo Lut

Here’s a flat out good one. She’s smooth and feminine and looks not much like her pedigree. But she’s stacked with the best club calf genetics. Watch the smart breeders bid on her because they will know how rare her build is. Retaining the right to 2 flushes.

I’m not afraid of keeping club calf genetics but they have to have elite build. I won’t keep average built ones. This one is so complete and feminine that I feel she can make very sellable calves with that extra punch. Her Dr. Meyer mother is a great producer and milks awesome. Buy with confidence.

Steer making machine here. You want to breed power to power, than this is your gal. Stout and square built to the max. Her mother was a past high seller to Robert Tavenor, MO. She’s a great donor for him and this one could be for you also.

This mating has been a huge success at the Sullivan Ranch. John Sullivan has believed in his genetic line for years. Here is your chance to get a piece of Sullivan Farms. Owned by: Minnaert Show Cattle

Again this year we will offer choice of sires. The donors will be conventional or IVF, our choice. You will have the choice as the buyer to select the sire you would like eggs out of. All the expense of making the embryos and semen will be Holtkamp Cattle Co. expense. The first 3 eggs made will be the buyers; the remainder are Holtkamp Cattle Co.’s. This was well received and happy to offer it again.

OLIVIA EMBRYOS

3 NO. 1 EMBRYOS | MATING: HERE I AM X OLIVIA SIRE: 6X | DAM: Angus

Only at Rising Stars do you get this opportunity. Olivia produced the 2018 California State Fair champion for Brody Leo. This success story starts a few years ago when Denney farms bought this steer as an embryo and raised this calf. Olivia’s track record doesn’t end there; she also produced the 2014 Reserve Grand Champion steer at the Fort Worth Stock Show. These steers were Walks Alone and BIM and I believe the HIA is a sire upgrade of this genetic lineage. What’s amazing on Olivia is that we haven’t aggressively flushed her and these 2 great steers are out of 6 steers out of her in the last years. One of the other steers was successfully shown in MO with many champion titles. She is a rare one. Stored at: Collison Vet Clinic - Rockwell City, IA

MISS MVP EMBRYOS

3 NO. 1 EMBRYOS | MATING: BROKER X MISS MVP SIRE: DAY DREAMER | DAM: FROSTY/ANGUS

Miss MVP was a special bred heifer that Robert Tavenor and Jayd Frazier purchased here. I always thought that she would be a producer. I know Jayd has sold a couple full sisters to this mating really well. One thing about Broker, he’s consistent on making a great one. Stored at: Tavenor Farms - Sedalia, MO Owned by: Robert Tavenor

Bullet will always have a special place here. One of the coolest show heifers we ever showed. She was attitude wise and could really draw a crowd at the show. Her first calf brought $32,000. She’s a producer. Her full sister here, BB, has worked really great to M20 selling them for $32,000, $20,000, $17,500 and $15,000. BDR is also a great option. The Horn genetics are really good and the steer that won Denver was as good as one that has ever showed. Your choice on either mating, you can’t go wrong here.
