The Recreation Division accepts registration at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts Box office, Monday-Thursday 8am to 6pm and Fridays 8am to 5pm, excluding holidays.

Resident Discount (“Res-Disc.”) vs. “Cost”

Your resident address must fall within one of three Tracy Zip Codes (95376, 95377, or 95304) to receive our resident discount. In addition, Enrichment 4 your address must be within Tracy city limits. If your address has five Sports 4-5 digits or more, then your home may be outside the Tracy city limits. It is possible to live in one of the three Tracy Zip Codes and still not live Youth within Tracy city limits. All non-residents pay the “cost” of a program.

If you are not happy with the quality of any of our programs, please contact us right away. We want to resolve your concern so you can Youth Advisory Commission 11 continue, or in some instances, receive a refund. You must complete Enrichment 11 a “Request for Class/Activity Withdrawal Form” and submit to the Sports & Fitness 12 Program Coordinator. Withdrawals are subject to a $5 transaction fee. Refunds are subject to an additional $5 transaction fee. If Adults you leave a credit on your account you will not be charged the Enrichment 13-14 additional transaction fee. Future Stars Tennis Lessons- Tiny Tots

Location: Tracy Community Center, Conference Room B Instructor: Eleanor Miatovich (AKA Mrs. Mike) Ages: 31/2-6 years old

Children will greet beloved characters such as Old King Cole and Mother Hubbard. Songs and Nursery Rhymes will be introduced and art projects will be an important part of class. The children will have fun while building skills in speaking, memorizing and rhyming.

Taught in a fun, friendly environment including using foam balls. Learn basic strokes, volleys, serves, scoring, etiquette and doubles play. We provide the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and enjoy the game of tennis through these fun, low cost 4-week lessons.

Athletic Perfection - Preschool Tumbling

These little ones will get a jump start on what it takes to be a cheerleader. They will learn proper hand and arm motions, simple cheer routines and steps, basic tumbling skills, fun warm-up activities and much, much more. Athletes will be introduced to conditioning and basic tumbling skills such as forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, hand-stands and bridges. Focus will be on building coordination and strength. Enrichment Little Masters of Public Speaking Level 2

This is our second course in the Public Speaking series for students in 1st-3rd grade. In this course, Little Masters build upon the skills they learn in the earlier course. They begin to understand and demonstrate the oomph and expressions in their speeches. In this course they memorize and recite poems. They learn how to tell funny stories and scary stories. YOUTH Fencing

This is a uniquely classical sport. It has history, drama, romance, art, style, plus all of the advantages of an active, physically demanding sport. Fencing develops agility, coordination, general fitness, good sportsmanship and self-discipline. Fencing is an excellent anaerobic exercise and done regularly, a great alternative to cutting carbs. Location: Tracy Community Center Instructor: Marin Fencing Academy Staff Ages: 6-19yrs Note: No prior experience necessary. All fencing equipment is provided. Come in t-shirt, sweat pants and sneakers, and bring a water bottle. Boys must wear protective cup. Olympic Style Tae Kwon Do - MMA (for Beginners, Little Dragons and Dragons)

Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial Art that has evolved by combining many different styles such as the linear movements of Karate, the flowing circular patterns of Kung Fu, and native Kickboxing techniques. We have incorporated MMA techniques of Muay Tai and Jujitsu to our curriculum. Your child will learn the values of respect, confidence, and discipline. We will address how to deal with strangers and bullies with achieving a Black Belt as our goal. Sign up for Tuesday and Thursday and save! Coaches Needed for Junior Giants

Giving to our youth and our community is a positive way to improve the lives of others. Volunteering as a coach in the City of Tracy’s Junior Giants program provides you with an opportunity to have a positive impact on the youth of our community. The Junior Giants program is a free, non-competitive baseball league that offers participants an excellent opportunity to learn the basics of the game in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. This free program is for local children ages 5 through 13. No coaching experience is necessary as the Junior Giants offer coaching clinics and training DVDs to assist new or inexperienced volunteers on proper methods to teach the skills of the game. The program runs from late June through the first week of August. Stop by the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, 715 Central Ave. to sign up to become a volunteer coach. For more information on coaching, call (209) 831-6202. Coach’s packets will be available beginning March 1, 2016. The After School Program (ASP) provides children with opportunities to improve academic performance, enhance their social skills, increase physical fitness and learn new things in a fun and safe environment on school campus. ASP staff are trained, educated, experienced and committed recreation professionals who value your child’s needs. The ASP program incorporates weekly homework assistance, the Healthy Habits program and enrichment activities. The daily rate allows participants to register for the ASP program one day at a time. The hourly rate is for those children who need after school care in the afternoon for 1-25 hours during a calendar month. This is a uniquely classical sport. It has history, drama, romance, art, style, plus all of the advantages of an active, physically demanding sport. Lifeguard Training

Becoming a lifeguard is a rewarding job, but requires hard work and the desire to help save lives. This 40 hour course will certify you as a YMCA lifeguard for both pool and waterfront, and includes e-learning, classroom learning and pool time. Lifeguard candidates must pass a prerequisite three-stage swim skill assessment before permitted to continue in the course. Once permitted to continue with the course, students will learn the skills to become a lifeguard. You will receive CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration certifications. Candidates are welcome to apply for lifeguard positions with the YMCA after completion of the course. *Participant must pass a three-stage physical competency test on the first day to proceed with the certification class. Phase 1: Tread water for 2 minutes and front swim crawl for 100 yards. Phase 2: Swim 50 yards each: Front crawl, head up, sidestroke, breaststroke regular & head up, elem backstroke, hands only, surface dive & swim underwater. Phase 3: Dive into pool. Sprint 20 yards. ADULTS Dog Obedience

The goal of this class is to develop a reliable canine citizen, whether to gain necessary control over an older friend or to start a young dog’s education. We teach using a combination of traditional dog training techniques and behavior modifications. The City of Tracy kicks off the 2016 Adult Softball season with our Spring leagues held at the beautiful Tracy Sports Complex. Registration ends February 17. The Manager’s Meeting will be held on February 18 at 6:30pm at the Tracy Transit Station, Room 105 (50 East 6th Street). League Play will begin the week of February 22. Our program is a recreational slow pitch softball league, offering three levels of competition in our coed and men’s leagues. The goal of the Senior Center exercise program is to provide you with a safe and structured program to promote good health. Work out every day or 3 times each week to fit your individualized fitness needs. Standing and chair exercise programs are provided. All classes are led by licensed, qualified instructors. * All exercises are adaptable to fit your current fitness level. * Bring a towel and water bottle. * Comfortable, loose clothing and gym shoes are recommended. SENIORS Organizations Brown Bag

Brown Bag is a food distribution program for seniors 60 years and older provided by Second Harvest. There are some income restrictions and participants may sign up at the Tracy Community Center the day of distribution only. Brown Bag is held the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 8:30am to 10:30am. A $12 donation for the year is optional.

Daily In-Home Meals

Home delivered frozen meals are available to home-bound and/or temporarily ill seniors 60 years and older. Program is Monday-Friday, 10:15am to 12:30pm. Suggested contribution of $2 per meal is greatly appreciated. An application must be completed before services begin. For more information or to register for the program call the San Joaquin Department of Aging and Adult Services at (209) 953-5500.

Mobile Farmers Market and Nutrition on the Move

This farmers market on wheels distributes healthy nutritional items, particularly fresh fruits and vegetables. Nutrition education provided free of charge. For Tracy residents 60 years and older. Held on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center. *NEW* Enjoy healthy food that tastes great! From 11:30am to 12:00pm, Mobile Farmers Market hosts a nutrition education program in the Arts & Crafts room. Stop by to learn how to prepare healthy and balanced meals before picking up your produce.

Daily Nutrition Lunch

Hot lunches are provided on a first come, first serve basis. Individuals residing in San Joaquin County and over the age of 60 qualify for the program. Suggested contribution of $2 per meal is greatly appreciated. Meals are served daily at 11am at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center.
