8 RECREATE® | UWA Kids Sports

Summer Fun for the Young UWA Kids Sports SUMMER Holiday Program 6 to 31 January A dynamic school holiday sport and recreation experience. The UWA Kids Sports Holiday Program is an action-packed school holiday program based on group sport and recreation activities. Held from 6-31 January 2014 at the UWA Recreation and Fitness Centre, children aged 5-13 will participate in two streams of age-targeted activities aimed at enhancing their physical education, exposing them to new and exciting sports as well as their favourite activities in a fun, engaging and safe environment. Children will get to meet and play sport with some of Perth’s best professional athletes in specialised workshops with the Western Force (rugby), Perth Wildcats and West Coast Waves (basketball) and Western Warriors and Western Fury (cricket). The Western Force will run a Walla Tag session, a non-contact form of Rugby Union where children learn how to play rugby, catch and pass a rugby ball and develop skills in evading opposition players. Other favourite activities include ‘Rugby Octopus’, where kids try to evade each other and avoid having their flag belts captured by the other team.

Battle Post Xmas Bulge Fight back against the silly season with this quick and intense living room workout

It’s a fact - Xmas and New Year are the biggest celebration times of the year. Filled with office parties, backyard barbeques and holiday meals with family, friends and in-laws, it’s no surprise that we overindulge during the festive season. Don’t let all of this year’s hard work on the field or in the gym be spoiled by a few indiscretions in the form of Christmas pudding! Fight the good fight to keep those kilos at bay with this simple exercise plan you can do at home to keep you on the right track. Once you become comfortable with the exercises, try adding on the more difficult options.
