BACHELOR THESE Sacred, not being a religious reference, but it was named sacred, to refer to the significance and greatness of science in humanity. SSH is a dedicated center that takes cultural, community sciences, research and studies to a whole new level. The center also studies the unproven and mysterious sciences.

9

The project focuses on the community, its sciences, and things that interests the community and inspires it. But it doesn’t only concern that, it also studies the different sciences. As we hear myths everyday by the public, that have been transported from a generation to another, and probably have no basic scientific proof of existence. The project had to study physics, history, medicine, chemistry, IT and cryptography, to prove, document and share scientific facts to the people to correct the misconceptions stuck in the heads of the people and widen their horizons to discover further parameters. THE CONCEPT

THE EXHIBITION HALL

REBWAR A. MUHAMMED | PORTFOLIO 2018 ©

11

The project emphasizes entertainment aspects as much as it focuses on science. When a person observes the building from distance, they start to question themselves of what this simplicity and pure box could mean. This will act as an attraction for them to approach and discover what it could be and by them approaching to answer their questions they start to see more details of the building, details they missed from more distance, the closer they get the more the building reveals, as they get to the plaza all of a sudden, as the plaza is faded into the surrounding, they just find themselves checking out the landscape design within the plaza which reflects complexity and delicate emphasis, that could possibly attract `

THE AUDITORUIM

The building functionally reflects all the researches and studies within the project through exhibitions and galleries to reveal the development that has undergone within the project and to impress the visitors with the level of dedication and hard work the scientists in the project have been achieving. The aim of the project is to deliver a feeling, to all people visiting it, that the project and its spaces were designed for them literally,The SSH project consists of two sides, one is for people, and the other is for science. The two parts have been interconnected through (Media), and the media are: the plaza, the auditorium, seminar halls, exhibition galleries, library...Etc.

REBWAR A. MUHAMMED | PORTFOLIO 2018 Š

14

This complexity of the landscape makes a purely obvious contradiction to the “simple box”. However the “simple box” that’s bent upward and looks as it was floating in the air, that gives amazing panoramic views to the surrounding urban scenes, holds a hidden meaning of the uprising development of science. The SSH has a great flexibility and tendency for future expansion, as it has a fair built up area in the huge site.

The project had to study physics, history, medicine, chemistry, IT and cryptography, to prove, document and share scientific facts to the people to correct the misconceptions stuck in the heads of the people and widen their horizons to discover further parameters. Sustainability: The site is punctured and faded to blend into the urban surroundings of the site, these punctures act as means of rain-water harvesting and ventilation. And as the project’s aim is to serve the community its site is situated in the heart of the city, surrounded by public parks, and easily accessed from different parts of the city in terms of accessibility, moderating environmental and economic wastes. And this also serves as means of gathering and bringing together in terms of community.

The Second Prize goes to REBWAR ABUBAKIR from Koya University for his work on the Scared Science House; Rebwar’s work was supervised by Mr Mohammed Sabeeh. Rebwar’s submission tops the list of the graduation projects submitted from inside Iraq. The Judging Panel’s Comment was: This project demonstrates simplicity, elegance and delicacy of form that creates a light and inviting architecture. There is a logical concept development that has been translated sensitively into physical form. There is an interesting reinterpretation of traditional Islamic decoration to inform the design of the external plaza, which in turn creates an exciting juxtaposition to the building above. Issues regarding rainwater harvesting have been well considered and integrated into the architecture in an original way. The project is well presented graphically with a range of images including sections, diagrams, elevations and perspectives with both internal and external spaces allowing a good understanding of the design intentions. for more information visit the website: http://www.tamayouz-award.com/news/winner-announcement-tamayouz-excellence-award-2015-excellence-in-graduation-projects

PESHMERGE HOSPITAL MEANT TO BE THE FIRST OFFICIAL HOSPITAL DESIGNED FOR PESHMERGE FORCES IN A COMPETITION , PESHMERGES ARE THE MILITARY FORCES OF THE FEDERAL REGION OF IRAQI KURDISTAN. BECAUSE THE IRAQI ARMY IS FORBIDDEN BY IRAQI LAW FROM ENTERING IRAQI KURDISTAN, THE PESHMERGA, ALONG WITH THEIR SECURITY SUBSIDIARIES, ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SECURITY OF THE REGIONS IN IRAQI KURDISTAN DESIGN TEAM REBWAR HEZIN BZHUN

peshmerge has special uniform with different pattern and color ,abstracting the same pattern to shape the site of the project and wear the site as the same uniform of peshmerga as hospitals have many standards of configuration and distirbuition of departments ,we tried to combine the site pattern with the standard configurations without loosing the sense of standards and levels of the site itself. we chose an orientation for masses to the best direction of sun path, thus most of the hospital recieve quite amount of sun light, which is south -weast.we used one main hospital street and minupilating buildings and connected by linkages

THE CONCEPT OF KOYA REVIVAL IS MAINTAINING THE CORE OF THE CITY AS IT IS, BECAUSE IT’S THE HERITAGES OF THE CITY, CREATING A HEART IN THE CITY WHILE BEFORE WAS A PLACE OF CARS BUT NOW IT’S A PLACE OF WALKING AND WONDERING, THE FOLK OF KOYA WERE SO CURIOUS FOR THE EDUCATION AND CULTURE, IN 1900S THE PEOPLE LEARNED FROM SUKHTAKHANA WHICH WAS A PLACE IN MOSQUES PEOPE WERE STUDYING INSTEAD OF SCHOOLS BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T HAVE SCHOOLS BY THAT TIME, KOYA BETWEEN ART AND CULTURE WAS THE THE PLACE OF ART AND ARTISTS, EVEN IF IT WASN’T THE FIRST CLASS BUT IT COULD BE COMPARED WITH OTHER KURDISH CITIES IN ALL KINDS AND FIELDS OF ART, KOYA IS ONE OF THE ANCIENT CITY IN THE SOUTH OF KURDISTAN, THIS CITY HAS BECAME A DISTRICT IN 1918,

SOUL IS THE NATURAL SETALITE, IT SENDS AND RECIECES WHAT IT OBSERVES FROM THE MEDUIMS, SCHOOLS ARE THE MEDIUM OF ALL THESE, TO CREATE A GOOD SETALITE WE SHOULD DESIGN A SCHOOL WHERE PROVIDES ALL THE SOULS A GOOD FEELING TO SEND AND RECIEVE, THE PROJECT IS ORIANTATED LIKE A SETALITLE TOWARDS KOYA CITY INDICATING THE SPIRIT OF KOYA SENDING AND RECIEVING WELL, SCHOOL CANT BE A PLACE ONLY FOR READING BOOKS, IT’S A FUN PLACE AND MEETING TALENTED PEOPLE, THE SPACES HAVE TO GIVE A SENSE OF THE REAL SECOND HOME NOT JUST A BORING PRISON LIKE TYPICAL SCHOOLS IN KURDISTAN.
