HOTEL CURE Are you tired of the city? Have you ever wanted to escape from an everyday routine? Nowadays there is a huge gap between people and the nature. We forgot how important it is to spend time outside the city. By underlining the major problems of nowadays’ society, such as pollution and depression and reminding about the importance of the environment we live in, we provide the necessary solutions and transform them into our design language. Within this project we were aiming to create a very actual and eco friendly brand that will cure both the nature and the mind. The aim of this projects is to bring people back to the natural environment, create a space in the city where they could hide from the everyday problems and clear themselves, helping the environment at the same time.

BRAND IDENTITY By using natural materials wood and plants reminds us the nature always cure the nature and bring people to the essential surroundings. Ecologically friendly design - by adding extra leisure pursuits.

020 As an alternative to the traditional hotel building we decided to take 4x4x4 size box as a construction element and made a main building with all the facilities, such as lobby, spa, restaurant, administration area and etc. We took the shape of a box after being inspired of the city maps we were looking in and the fact that the general pattern of each city reminds the hatch with squares. In the territory of the hotel each room will be an independent building and has a size out of 4 types that we made: standard, double, duplex and suit. We wanted to provide comfortable living balance between modern technology and comfort. Radiant floor heating, eco-friendly incineration toilet and a water-efficient lavatory. All the constructions we create will be covered with mirrored glass with an aim to reflect the green environment that surround it. It was essential for us to make a space, where a person can completely abstract from the city and concentrate just on the nature that is around him.

"To prevent birds colliding with the reflective glass, a transparent ultraviolet colour is laminated into the glass panes which are visible for birds only. The construction also alludes to how man relates to nature, how we use high tech materials and products when exploring remote places in harsh climates."

PERSPECTIVE

This exhibition about Achille Castiglioni is based on the book written by Sergio Polano. This book divides Castiglioni’s work by decades, and we used the timeline as our exhibition structure. Achille castiglioni’s best describe the process of his design as “Start from scratch. Know your goals and means.” Every object that he design, lies a story behind it. Our goal is for visitor to understand his perspective by narrate them into the exhibition space.

Since 1940 he had dedicated himself to experimenting on industrial products with his brothers Livio ((19111979) and Pier Giacomo (1913-1968). Their interests were directed towards Urban Planning, Architecture and Design; they performed analysis and research on new forms, techniques and materials, aimed at developing a process of “integral design”. In 1969, he was nominated Professor of “Artistic Industrial Design”; he chaired the Faculty of Architecture in Turin until 1980 and taught in Milan until 1993 as Professor of “Industrial Design” at the Polytechnic of Milan.

EXHIBITION DESIGN

03 Perspective of Achille Castoglioni

"Achille Castiglioni always start his design from sketch, and behind every design object he made-lies a story behind it. So we want to tell this story through his sketch and objects by creating a narrative way of exhibition. Our goal is for visitor to understand Castiglioni's perspective of design." Location-Padigione D’Arte Contemporanea located in Via palestro closed to Porta Venezia. The building has two floors, after the entrance the first floor has high walls, visible from the second floor as a balcony and five rooms for galleria and a corridor as a passage which is between garden entry area and galleria area. Last but not least, there is a big hole which separated by windows from the garden. We point out lighting as a most significant part in our project. For that reason, we explored the current light sequence, the daylight position for each period of day and season. It’s visible that the daylight more effective in garden area, corridor as a middle area between balcony area and rooms. So in the galleria area is clear and without daylight. The artificial light which already exist. There are two types of light, ones spots and the other is interior general light. The zoning plan is designed according the book. It is clear that the timeline is one of the most important ways to explain Castiglioni’s works. We keep the same methodology to decide the zoning. First entrance area for introduction and 40s, second for 50s, third and fourth for 60s because these decades are golden ages, and last room is for 70s, and also garden pool area for 80s and 90s. We use the graphic combine to lighting effect as narrative way to leading people to go into the book and understanding the way Castiglion thinking by using same structure of display and putting the sketch on the wall, combine the lighting effect point out the story of object.

026

The layout following our concept, narrative way to show his perspective is reflected to design. Introduction area gives general information about Castiglioni and the book. Also the beginning works in 40s. You will see not only a wall here but also it shows the different views. Another main part of the project is displays. One of displays ways start from the introduction area through the corridor passage to the end of the pool. The second display type is in gallery area’ rooms. Three rooms are dark, other sides are lighted area.

"SECOND LIFE" Our goal was to create a significant house for our client and for their second life, people spend more than 8 hour every day in their home, especially in the retired life, they are enjoy their life, they don't have regular timetabling every day, both of they are liberal and freedom of their second life, they like invite friend to their home and cook together. At the beginning of this project we starting to re-think the definition of house and home, because we want our client feel their new life in this home. We trying to animate and individualize for our client from their interests, and we found the painting as main interest of owner of this house, so we decide to design the canvas as our design element to combine memories and divided the space.

"BETWEEN OPENESS AND CLOSENESS" Canvases are not only as philosophy in this project, but as elements to divided the private space and common space in three different levels. It also has different function as a partition. There are four man partition in the ground floor. Firstly, the canvas between atrium and student bathroom, it gives the student private and convenience for back to home late, but still keep ventilation well, another canvas between atrium and bathroom as the main visual target for their decoration of memory. Go into the masterbedroom, there is a canvas between atelier and bedroom and bedroom and bathroom, as a storage and closet for both side. In the first floor, there are two main partitions between atrium and living room, we design this canvas not only for decorations, but for main TV wall for their leisure interests. Another canvas in the corridor becomes art piece in the middle of building. The only one canvas in the second floor between atrium and diningroom, the canvas become a wine cellar between living room and kitchen, dining, and terrace, for who has the high interests in wine collection.

Japanese drama remade into Chinese movie ‘Say Yes’. The original series tells a love story between Tatsuro, middle-aged man, and a beautiful musician named Kaoru. The current film stars popular actress Lin Chi-ling plays the role of Kaoru, renamed Xun. The Chinese moviegoers were pleased that the film adaptation kept much of the original of the drama series – like the same theme song and memorable scenes. The changes the producers made were mainly situational, to help the Chinese public relate to the story. By all measures, the movie is a veritable success, and is primed now to hit cinemas in Taiwan, as well considerations of showing the movie in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.

This is one of the most important scene in the film, the cello practice room in the music college. we choose the famous architecture 1933 factory at Shanghai, with historical colony style architecture. The idea is keep the original structure and not cover it, useing the base element "s"shape book shelf only 1.35meter connect with original hexagonal columns, so the shelfs didn't cover the sight of camera, creating different layer in the scene.

Next to the open box is desire; inside the box of Pandora is hope.

Romanesque architecture is an architectural style of Medieval Europe characterised by semicircular arches. There is no consensus for the beginning date of the Romanesque architecture, with proposals ranging from the 6th to the 10th century. It developed in the 12th century into the Gothic style, characterised by pointed arches. Examples of Romanesque architecture can be found across the continent, making it the first pan-European architectural style since Imperial Roman Architecture. The Romanesque style in England is traditionally referred to as Norman architecture.

THE LOFT HOUSE the new life for old house

The stairs’ design is the focus in the house, but the most important element is to connect to the second floor. When a person enters the house, the first thing his eyes notice you are the stairs connecting the first floor to the second floor while attached to the main wall, the wood steps are inserted into the historic brick wall .The combination of iron and wood not only add strength to the structure, but also use less space and merge the past introduced in the red brick wall with the contemporary touch represented by the hanging steps. The Loft style is from New York's Soho district, is adopting an open design without compartment concept. The open space concept is applied in all rooms including the kitchen, dining room, living room, even in the bedroom. The combination of western and Eastern cultures was clearly showed by a sliding door, and the idea comes from Chinese window decoration. The house is for travel show hoster who was growed up in America but born in Taiwan, even she has been live in American for a long time, but now she wants to come back in Taiwan make her own "home". the concept is hybrid, by useing different material from both west and east culuture just like her background.

"KEEPING THE ORIGINAL MATERIAL AND STRUCTURE BUT GIVING THE NEW LIFE FOR OLD HOUSE " Loft style from New York's Soho district, adopted an open design without a compartment concept. Loft apartments are built within a building or a special tall bedroom. A loft can be an upper story or attic in a building, directly under the roof. Alternatively, a loft apartment refers to large adaptable open space, often converted for residential use. A converted loft can also offer some other light industrial usages. Some converted lofts include upper open loft areas. The main material includes both brick and wood. Before we fix up the building the house was around 30 years old , so the wood floor were damp and broken, we changed the new material to cement ,the most original material with special polish to make the floor with loft style. We also remove most of the compartments to increase the space. Grilles were also used as separators and dividers in the area.

This case sits on the Sin-Yi Road, but the apartment building is around 30 years old in the old community. The land lord owns two apartments one is in the seventh-floor and the other is on the eighth-floor, originally they were not connected, so we had to build stairs to connect between the two apartments, the biggest challenge was to cut through the ceiling without hurting or affecting the building which is called "old house renovation".

The third plan is with the new dividing wall included. The fourth plan indicated the measurements of the ceiling designing and the wood beams needed to match the loft style. The fifth plan presented the configuration of lighting which can alter the atmosphere of a room. The seventh plan has the galvanometer and the loop of lighting which control the light switches. The seventh plan illustrates the socket configuration according to the usage. The eighth plan explains the flooring materials a mix of timber and polished concrete floors to present a more nature look comfortable style.

The paper-cut for window decoration is the main form. Generally speaking, the paper-cut for window decoration is commonly used in Northern China; it’s also popular in parts of Southern China. However, in the north the window has many paper base sticks. The pure white paper can be exchanged and pasted on the color bright paper-cut window decoration again on the Spring Festival. Although people change glass substitution to white paper gradually, but people still paste the paper-cut window decoration on the glass, the papercut window decoration can directly respond to people for the pursuit of beauty. So for Chinese New Year, when someone is getting married or someone moves to a new house, it is mostly decorated by the paper-cut window decoration, so as to add a happy atmosphere. The paper-cut window decoration content is widespread; it’s very common in the shapes of flowers, birds, butterflies, fish, drama character, the Chinese folklore, and the propitious jubilation. Because of the paper-cut window decoration modeling the multiform w i n d ow l a t t i c e r e s t r i c t i o n , It d o e s n o t h a v e c e r t a i n f o r m o r s i z e , however there are also some special modeling, such as square shapes, the anthocephalus chinesis, the corner decorations, the linearity, also animal pictures that are divided into four units, again by a combination of field glyph. In this project, we mix the Chinese style grills to the loft style to contribute to the concept of mixed styles between Chinese and Western cultures.
