HOW DO CRAWLING AND INDEXING AFFECT SITE RANKING? Search engines can only evaluate and rank websites if its pages can be crawled and indexed. If the site is not indexed, it is unread by search engines. The site must first be indexed by the search engine for it to be ranked.

HOW TO CHECK IF A PAGE IS BEING INDEXED BY GOOGLE? You can examine the Google Analytics data to search for pages that are not receiving organic traffic. This is an indicator that some URLs may not be indexed. Search Engine Land mentioned an R script solution provided by Mark Edmondson. However, the simplest and quickest way to check if a page is indexed is by using the site: operator with a Google search.

Crawling is a process done by Google’s Spider crawler. Crawlers visit your website for tracking purposes. Crawling means following the links or crawling around your site. Google’s bots use sitemaps to crawl because it contains all the site’s links. Indexing happens after crawling. Indexing is the process of putting the crawling results onto Google’s index. It is the process of adding web pages to Google’s search index.
