REAL TENNIS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 11-15 SEPTEMBER 2022
TICKET BOOKLET AND TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
1
WELCOME Chair of the 2022 Real Tennis World Championship Management Committee I am excited and honoured that the reigning World Champion, Robert Fahey, will be defending his World Championship title at the Prested Tennis Club in Essex, in September 2022. Having previously hosted the real tennis World Doubles Championships in 2017, and the 2016 and 2017 IRTPA Pro Doubles, 2022 marks the first time that Prested Tennis Club has had the privilege of hosting the Real Tennis World Championship, the oldest event of its kind in the world, having first been held over 280 years ago, in 1740. Hard-fought first round eliminators amongst the next four best-ranked players in the world saw Camden Riviere beat Nick Howell at The Oratory and Chris Chapman overcome Ben Taylor-Matthews in Melbourne. The final eliminator went Camden’s way, setting up the eagerly awaited World Championship Challenge Final at Prested Tennis Club. The unique show court at Prested Tennis Club, with its glass viewing area at the hazard end, has had some major renovations and updates over the last few years including new LED lighting, court painting, new netting and, most recently, an opening in the marker’s box to make for better side gallery viewing. This booklet outlines all of the events that will take place during the World Championship week and, going with tradition, there will be plenty of activities for everyone. I look forward to us hosting a world-class tournament in September 2022 and hope to see as many of you as possible join us from all corners of the globe in celebrating this wonderful and unique sporting event. “COME ONE, COME ALL!”
Chair, World Championship Committee
