The Concours is like a fine wine, getting better each year. Now in its second decade, the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance is among the top automotive events in the world. The Amelia, always held the second full weekend in March, draws over 300 rare vehicles from collections from around the world. This is an automotive celebration like no other. Since the initial event in 1996 the show’s Charitable Foundation has donated over $2.5 million to deserving charities along Florida’s First Coast. Take a trip to the Concours. In 1992 Pastors Jim and Peggy Minor founded Harvest House with just 6 beds for men in recovery from substance abuse. Today, Harvest House has 9 supportive housing campuses and 30 affordable rentals encompassing 400+ beds and serves more than 900 individuals annually. Harvest House is one of the few nonprofit organizations in Sarasota working towards the development, preservation, and management of affordable, service-enriched housing. They serve homeless families, veterans, youth ages 16 to 24, and adults with a history of incarceration and substance abuse. Their model is becoming the standard for serving members of our community who are working to rebuild their lives. Harvest House believes that affordable and supportive housing programs improve economic status, revitalize neighborhoods, and stabilize lives. Harvest House programs are not a handout. Instead, they offer a hand-up to those willing to engage and work towards independence. The VETS program assists male veterans who have struggled with returning to civilian life after their service via transitional housing set in a therapeutic community, recovery and life enrichment classes, case management, and homebound services.

Included with the program clients are set up in a dorm-style living accommodations with a shared common area, bathroom, and kitchen space. Freedom integrates Physical Health, Nutrition, Exercise, Sexual Health, Mental & Emotional Health, Anger Management, and Emotional Intelligence Therapy.

SCG was founded by world renowned car enthusiast and builder, Jim Glickenhaus, who took the automotive world by storm in 2005 when he created the Ferrari P4/5 and later the P4/5 Competizione which he campaigned successfully at iconic races such as the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in Germany. They’re also developing a plan with sponsor and navigation expert GARMIN to participate in a trans-continent excursion from New York to Paris slated for 2020 which requires the vehicle to be equipped with pontoons. The excursion as they’re calling it, probably since they can’t find anyone crazy enough to race against them, will depart from Times Square in New York City. From there, the Boot heads west and doesn’t stop. The water crossing will occur at the Bering Strait, which is 53 miles across at its narrowest point. From there, the Boot will trek southwest to the Road of Bones and onto the Trans-Siberian Highway. The route will pass through Beijing, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and finally end in Paris. The Cogan’s relationship with SCG is multi-faceted, they secured exclusive distribution rights for SCG’s road vehicles including 17 states in the east and south U.S. and they plan to establish and manage sales and service centers for the brand in Sarasota and Palm Beach. SCG is the only NHTSA approved hyper car manufacturer in the US. Each model of road car they build is based on a similar version fully homologated to race in classes such as LMP1, GT3 and GT4. The road going cars are basically identical to their race brethren except with a few creature comforts added such as full leather and alcantara interior, DOT approved tires and, of course, obligatory emissions equipment. The Cogan’s, through their GNAR
entity, also have exclusive worldwide sales and distribution rights to SCG’s race vehicles. Regardless of what type of cars you drive or collect, F7 can be a valuable resource. Boost Your Health: 3 Senses you should attend to more
e have so many great ways we can use knowledge of the body’s inner workings to heal and maintain wellness. When we look to our sensory systems and support our “involuntary muscles”, we reduce the work the body has to do on its own to run more efficiently and maximize health. 1. Proprioception is the body’s awareness of movement. We are not always aware of how our insides are working, especially the diaphragm. Jobs that require sitting, overhead reaching, bending for long periods of time contribute to a breathing pattern that does not benefit you. By learning Diaphragmatic Breathing, you can train your diaphragm to move in the correct manner influencing better health. You can easily incorporate this breath before you get out of bed in the morning and after you get back in for the night. I recommend diaphragmatic breathing to be done only when the body is not engaging abdominal muscles to reduce injury such as hernias and prolapsed bladders. What a good way to start and end your day knowing you have taken the time to care for yourself. 2. The Vestibular sensations tell us how we are interacting with our environment, to be oriented in space and time and perception of gravity enabling us to do almost everything that we do in our daily lives. Our ability to maintain a calm but alert state is influenced by this sense. As gravity is continuously pushing us towards the earth, we need to support our body by going with gravity not against it. A fun way to do this would be to get outdoors and hang upside down from a tree or monkey bars at a park. It can also be done at home on a therapy ball. Downward dog is a good pose that supports rehydrating the spinal discs keeping us tall! 3. Smell is typically related to emotions. We smell something and feel happy, calm and peaceful. It can also make you sad or disgusted. Through inhalation of essential oils, the limbic system is influenced and can lead to a change in your body chemistry for better health and a positive mood. Adding the natural strategy of inhaling essential oils during your breathing practice will double the benefits. I like to start with Frankincense. Place a drop in your hand, rub together and inhale through the nose and exhale allowing the sensation to take over. I always like to find ways to infuse wellness into all that I do.
