For   Project   two   we   have   been   asked   to   create   a   stop   mo5on   of   a   series   of   images   to   portray   5me   through   photography.   Stop   mo5on   takes   5me   and   effort   to   create   a   great   stop   mo5on,   so   I   think   I   will   create   a   series   of   images   that   are   based  off  the  work  of  Alexey  Titarenko.   He  takes  images  of  people  in  movement   but   uses   a   technique   that   causes   the   movement   to   be   a   blur   and   everything   sta5onary  clear  and  sharp.  I  think  Alexey   takes   a   series   of   1-‐second   photos   and   then  over  lays  them  on  to  of  each  other.   I   think   this   type   of   photography   shows   an   aspect   of   darkness   to   everyday   life   and   expresses   the   idea   that   everything   we  do  we  leave  a  footprint  or  a  idea  that   people  remember  us  as.   I’m   not   sure   about   what   technique   I’m   going   to   use   but   I   will   talk   to   my   tutor   and   see   if   he   has   any   ideas   about   whether   I   should   try   Alexey’s   approach   or  take  long  exposure  photographs.

Proposal

Alexey Titarenko   Alexey  Titarenko  style  of  photography   is   a   great   example   of   how   to   show   5me   and   movement   through   s5ll   shots.       This  photo  is  a  great  example  of  how   Alexey   takes   long   exposure   shots   to   capture  the  people’s  movements  in  a   blur  but  have  a  stark  contrast  against   the   railing,   steps   and   building   with   stand  sta5onary  and  lifeless.       I   think   Alexey   has   shot   in   black   and   white   to   heighten   the   point   he   is   trying  to  get  across,  I  feel  that  colour   would   draw   our   eye   away   from   the   blur   and   it   would   be   to   busy.   Alexey   always   shoots   on   film   and   although   this   means   he   does   not   have   the   flexibility  of  digital  it  gives  his  work  a   sense  of  age  and  historic  value.

My  final  photos  have  differed  from   what   I   expressed   in   my   proposal   but   I   am   very   happy   with   the   final   images.   I   shot   them   on   my   mates   Nikon  D600  with  a  50mm  1.4g  lens.   I  had  to  do  this  as  my  cameras  ISO   capability's     were   good   enough   to   take   the   long   exposure   photos   as   well   as   my   lens   couldn't   close   to   a   higher  numerical  value  aperture  (f/ 16)  where  as  the  50mm  1.4g  could   close   to   f/22.   I   feel   as   if   5me   is   represented   well   in   these   s5ll   photos,  I  got  my  mate  to  stand  s5ll   in   the   photos   to   add   a   contrast   and   highlight   the   fact   that   I   was   trying   t o   c a p t u r e   5 m e / m o v e m e n t   standing   s5ll.   I   choose   the   loca5on   as   it   is   a   busy   part   of   5me   and   i   shot  at  lunch5me  as  the  crowds  are   larger.
