Editorial Perhaps to the surprise of many commercial real estate practitioners, 2011 turned out to be a fairly positive year for our industry in Luxembourg, as our Key Figures summary shows (p.9). These figures demonstrate the truth of our observation in our Autumn Newsletters, that “Real estate still needs to be managed, companies must still be housed and manage their property resources efficiently, and there is still money available that needs to be very strategically invested.” Crisis and opportunity are two sides of the same coin, if you are flexible enough to change your approach when appropriate. Redefining your needs and goals and rethinking your resources need not mean giving up on profit: adjusting your timing expectations and finding alternative partners, fresh locations or niche expertise can open new doors where others see blank walls. Please bear these thoughts in mind as you consider our smorgasbord of Current Offers (p.3-8).

We have therefore recruited new talent and expanded our service offering. NEW PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES We are delighted to welcome Alain Dehem, our new Head of Project Management Services. An experienced civil engineer, Alain has an excellent track record in construction and project management. He joins us after four years as Project Director at Pylos Luxembourg, where he managed new developments and refurbishments of office and mixed- use buildings. Some of his recent projects include Royal Monterey, Gare 65, StarGate and the SofitelNovotel Developments. During his career, he has managed over twenty projects, including commercial malls, office buildings, hotels, schools and administrative buildings. His experience includes authorisation and permitting procedure,

team coordination, quality and cost control, daily team management, quantity surveying, planning, due diligence, health and safety coordination, security surveys and practical and technical construction skills. By combining Alain Dehem’s extensive skills with our team’s existing experience, we can now offer hands-on development management expertise, tailored for projects big or small: from full project management of new developments-design through tender, construction and delivery-to simply improving the cost-efficiency of existing buildings. A marketing specialist, Aurélie developed her customer relationship skills as a consultant at Daoust, a Belgian HR company. She has a Masters in Management from UCL– Mons (Université Catholique de Louvain). She interned in Sowaer airport company’s real estate department, helped analyse the economic and social situation around the airport to develop an urban revitalization strategy, and wrote a paper, “City Marketing: analyzing the impact of a cultural event on Urban Economic Development”, using as benchmarks the European Capitals of Culture Luxembourg 2007 and Lille 2004. Besides her native French, Aurélie speaks English, Dutch and some Italian.
