READING MUSEUM Saturday 14 July Costumed Tours Enjoy finding out how people lived in past times with these fun costumed tours. Discover how monks lived, meet a laundress or find out how the Abbey became ruined in Tudor times. Covering a shorter distance, these hour-long walking tours are ideal for families (also runs on 11 August). Easter Holidays The Museum will be closed over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, including Good Friday, and will reopen on Tuesday 3 April. Please see our website for Easter holiday activities.

Please note that all our May Half Term activities will take place in the Abbey Gateway. The Gateway has no step free access and there are uneven steps and floors. Buggies and pushchairs can be stored on the ground floor while you take part in the activity. Tuesday 29 May Medieval Monk School Meet our favourite monk Brother Atwater, who has joined us from 12th-century Reading Abbey to recruit some novice monks. Is your handwriting neat enough? Can you keep a vow of silence? Take part in these interactive sessions and learn what life was like almost 1,000 years ago!
