South Street Beer Fridays In association with The Grumpy Goat. The Last Friday of every month from 5pm Unwind straight after work at South Street with a special menu of craft beer selected by Reading’s brilliant The Grumpy Goat (Ale & Cheese shop in Harris Arcade).

Held on the second Friday of each month. Doors 8pm, poetry from 8.30pm. Reading’s longest running and best-loved poetry platform, Poets’ Café, is now being organised and hosted by The Poetry Society’s Reading Stanza. The Café will be held on the second Friday of every month and the night is made up of an open mic section, where we welcome anyone who wishes to read their work in a friendly atmosphere, plus a full reading by our guest poet. Darklands Saturday 30 June & Friday 27 July Free Entry. Darklands returns again for another year at South Street. Founder Steve Reynolds continues to deliver forgotten leftfield gems of yester year mixed with a healthy dose of current acts as well. You’ll hear Goth, Indie, Electronica, Post Punk, Grunge and Industrial by the likes of Bauhaus, The Fall, Horrors, Bunnymen, Stooges, LCD, Velvets, Pavement, Ride, MBV, New Order, L7, Fugazi, Interpol, Hookworms, Joy Division, Cure, Wire, Gang of Four, Sisters of Mercy and The Jesus and Mary Chain etc.

Thursday 26 April, 7pm (drinks from 6pm) A new season, a new brochure and more great new shows coming to South Street. So if you’re struggling to decide what shows to see then head down to South Street to our summer season Members Night to hear Artistic Director, John Luther and some select artists, introduce the highlights of the summer programme. With a welcome drink, some nibbles and discounts at the bar it is also a chance to chat with the team, other regulars and plan your diary! Tickets: £5 non-members. Members + guest free
