Clober Primary MAY NEWSLETTER News 2006 Puppet Show - “The Man who Planted Trees”
Cycling Proficiency It is at this time of year when this training takes place with the P6 children. Please remember to wear your helmet boys and girls.
This was a magical, comical adaptation of a story based on a man who recognised the need to plant trees to help the land flourish - an Eco theme.

East Dunbartonshire Orchestra Ross, Christie, Aiden and Lauren enjoyed taking part in the Training Weekend in April in Gartmore House. Shona will join other children throughout East Dunbartonshire for a whole week of fun as well as orchestra practice in May. Keeping Active The children are very lucky to have been given the opportunity to take part in a number of activities throughout the year. These have Included:
Handball, Athletics, Hockey, Judo, Golf and the Skipping Workshop

Constable Alex Moore is in the middle of delivering a comprehensive programme to help us help your children keep safe.
The following Clober Primary pupils passed a 2 hour mixed martial arts exam with flying colours:

The P5’s, P6’s and P7’s were also involved in a very humorous and informative show called ‘Stub it Out’, about anti-smoking.
Well done to all!! The Easter Silver Collection £ 77.26 will be added to our main charity “Water Aid”. A cheque will be donated at the end of the session.

Congratulations Mrs Ryman Congratulations to Mrs Ryman who has recently had a little girl. I’m sure the children told you that baby Rachael visited the school last week.
It was a great success and what a lot of hard work. The comments made to me as parents, friends and families left the performance were full of praise. Well done everyone and special thanks to Mr Dunford. A massive amount of £177 was raised which will help towards providing more resources and equipment for the school.
Help Keep Our Local Area Litter Free
Forth & Clyde Canal
Staff constantly raise awareness of why litter is a social, economic and environmental issue for us all. Only by training your children not to drop litter will we have any chance of adults becoming more thoughtful citizens and care about our environment.
Every school in East Dunbartonshire were invited to send their P6 pupils on a barge ride on the canal. This visit took place on 22nd April and they had a wonderful time. The children were even allowed to steer the barge!
Nursery/Primary Liaison: Clober’s extensive liaison programme runs throughout the year. During this term the pre school children will visit our P1 classroom by themselves and take part in an art activity. Many thanks to Mrs McRobb for all the time and effort she puts into this very worthwhile programme.
Baldy Bane Theatre Company On Monday 21 April this company performed ‘The Journey’ to the P6 class. The focus was on road safety and as part of their programme they involved the children in the actual performance. A very worthwhile event.
Keeping you informed Primary School Quiz On Tuesday 29 April nine teams from local schools attended The Rotary Club of Allanderâ€™s school quiz. Ruaridh, Daniel, Lance and Cheryl visited Craigdhu Primary to take part in this quiz. They did very well and really enjoyed themselves. Clober Primaryâ€™s Health Programme
Euro Quiz - March 2008 Clober Primary hosted the Euro Quiz, we were represented by: Sandy Neil
They all did very well indeed, Una Walker, Education Convener was the Quiz Master.
Mr Bremner, DHT is our Health coordinator and he will make available a copy of our Health Education Programme and resources used during our Parent Interviews at the end of May.

Keeping you informed Induction Afternoon This will take place immediately after the May long weekend on Tuesday 27 May in the afternoon. Please note that pupils due to start P1 in August 2008 will commence the full day after the September weekend.
Helping the Local Community Clober Primary is often asked to support local activities. Recently a small group of pupils helped make hedgehog boxes which they then put in our Eco garden.
