Object of Rotary The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life; FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
The Four-Way Test The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings: Of the things we think, say or do 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Avenues of Service We channel our commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity. Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. A thriving club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership development plan. Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society. Learn more in An Introduction to Vocational Service and the Code of Conduct. Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest. Learn more in Communities in Action: A Guide to Effective Projects. International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more. Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange.
The Editor's Note As Rotary Paranaque Midtown faces another pandemic year, the call to continue serving our community remains unwavering. This newsletter aims to inspire Midtowners and fellow Rotarians to persevere in our mission to improve the quality of life for people in our communities. May the stories of service and collaboration shared in each Midtowner issue help empower more Rotarians to bring forth more life changing acts of service.

Children's Day The Zero-Waste Initiative Building Bridges The Veg2Table Project A Midtown Story
Children's Day JULY 1, 2021
The Children's Day of Rotary District 3830 was aimed to help the children of Rotary Homes in Paranaque City. Over 250 children were beneficiaries of packed meals, oral hygiene kits and personal sanitation kits brought together by the Rotary Clubs of the district. Our club of Rotary Club of Paranaque Midtown was part of this event by contributing over 70 kilos of fresh vegetable produce from Benguet. 2021 LCP RJ Paguyo was also part of the program as he participated in the various activities such as handing the care packages to the children and their families.
Our club also celebrated Children's Day alongside its partner organization, JCI Alabang, by donating fresh vegetables to the children of Haven for Children, a DSWD center for street children, in Muntinlupa City. These vegetables benefited over 60 children who live there. Soon the club will have more projects with Haven for Children as we will be partnering with them so we can create more sustainable long term programs for the kids.
The ZeroWaste Initiative
The habit of recycling will minimize the plastic waste from the village that end up in landfills around our country. Plastic does not decompose thus creating a problem in its disposal. These plastics end up buried and forever remain under the earth. By eliminating this waste and convert it to something useful the communities will be motivated to recycle.
JULY 20, 2021 This project aims to address the growing concern of non-biodegradable waste in our landfills and bodies of water. In the country, 28% of all waste are recyclable and could be used in the manufacture of the same or other items. However, not all of these are recycled because there are communities that do not practice recycling. The idea of this project, started by Rotarian Gian Nacino, is to enable small communities or villages practice recycling by donating bins for their plastic waste. As long as the recycling bins are in place, this will serve as a visual reminder to practice recycling in the community. The plastic waste is collected and converted into benches made from the recycled plastics. This will reinforce the habit among the community especially if they get to benefit from the use of the benches in their parks.
Our first recycle bin donation for the year was to Teoville Village in Paranaque City. We had a discussion with the target community heads of Teoville Homeowners Assoc., to assess the needs of the community in terms of implementing this project in their village. Our club and its partner organizations: JCI Alabang, Ayala Malls and Kaligiran joined a worldwide effort, World Clean Up Day, to show support for our thrust to mitigate waste pollution in our planet.
Building Bridges JULY 29, 2021 The Rotary of Club of Paranaque Midtown and The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Alabang, has forged a partnership through a MOA signing last July 29, 2021 at Alabang Town Center, Muntinlupa City. The MOA was signed by the two clubs represented by 2021 RC Paranaque Midtown President RJ Paguyo and the 2021 JCI Alabang President Gian Nacino. This partnership has been a long time coming, especially since both these organizations have been working together for 3 years in various community service projects. The members of JCI Alabang are like minded young individuals working towards brining positive change to the community.

Current LCP RJ Paguyo, Public Image Chairman Gian Nacino and Service Chairwoman Kyra Ceralvo are members from JCI Alabang who wants to create a greater impact to the community by joining Rotary. LCP RJ Paguyo's vision for the year, is to partner with youth organizations with the same passion for service as Rotary. He believes that the more dynamism there is in club activities the more energy we can show in recruitment of young active citizens to the club. The two organizations have very high hopes and big plans for the years ahead.
"I am very happy to work with youthful and active organization like JCI Alabang. Having been a member there for over 6 years I know how much value their organization gives to their partners and community. Now as a Rotary Life Changing President, I believe that combining both our efforts, ideas and passion for service will be a big win to the communities we will be helping." RJ Paguyo 2021 Life Changing President
"Our collaborations include helping our fellow Filipinos get a free medical consultation online thru talktodok, making the south communities aware of the plastic pollution we are facing and collecting those wastes via zero waste, and several other initiatives unique to the two organizations. As a member and officer of JCI Alabang, I am looking forward to more collaborations in the future." Gian Nacino 2021 Dasig President
The Veg2Table Project JULY 1, 2021
Started by Rotarian and current RCPM Service Chairwoman, Kyra Ceralvo, this project was brought about during the height of the pandemic wherein Farmers from Benguet were struggling to sell their vegetables due to limitations on travel and closure of most food establishments, notwithstanding the typhoon which greatly affected their livelihood. From merely buying a few kilos of vegetables to give ease to the farmers. This year despite all the uncertainties our country is facing, Kyra and our club aim to make this project even bigger by helping more farmers sustain their livelihood and feeding more women and children who are greatly in need of proper nutrition.
THE MIDTOWNER | 08
The first beneficiaries of this program were the children and families of Rotary Homes in Paranaque during Children's Day last July 1. For the month of July we also donated vegetables to Elsie Gatches Village, Haven for Children and SOS Alabang. For the year we plan to reach more beneficiaries by partnering with bigger sponsors whose goal is also to help eliminate hunger in poor communities. For as low as P250, 5 kilos of vegetables can be purchased from Benguet Farmers and will be able to feed undernourished women and children in public and private institutions. If you would like to help please contact us through our Facebook page.
