The President’s Diary Another interesting week Last Tuesday nights’ speaker , Michele Hossack, provided an interesting background to her & the families life on the high seas, together with her passion for track & field. Sorry Pat & Jim were not present to hear her, as I am sure they could relate to many of Micheles experiences. BE Brad advised that two Youthlinc teams were arriving, straddling this & next Rotary Year. A project in Kuri Buri will ensure these teams are in action. A lot has happened since Tuesday night with Martial Law being inacted, followed by a Coup d’ etat resulting in a media & TV blackout, and curfew. Life has continued quite normally in Phuket, other than the night spots being very quiet after about 20.00 hours and ensuring all are home by 22.00 hours. A reminder re next Tuesday’s guest speaker Chris Williams – speaking to answer your questions about Visa and other Immigration matters YIR P. Denis ENGAGE ROTARY - CHANGE LIVES th

Michele gave an interesting talk covering her family’s life on the ocean waves. Since meeting her future husband at the age of 23 in Australia they spent many years travelling the world in a yacht. Travelling to the Caribbean, South Africa, Australia, South East Asia and beyond. During this time she had two children – Timana & Drew and homeschooled them until her mid 40’s when they settled in Phuket. Unfortunately I could not take notes as fast as Michele spoke – ed

Humour

At least I shoot Canon !

I have been known to have one or two myself

The phone rang. The lady of the house answered. “Yes ?” “Mrs.Ward please.” “Speaking” “Mrs.Ward, this is Dr.Jones at the Medical Testing Laboratory. When your doctor sent your husband’s samples to the laboratory, a sample of another Mr.Ward was sent as well and we are now uncertain which is your husband’s. Frankly it is either bad or terrible.” “What do you mean ?” Mrs.Ward asked. “Well, one Mr.Ward has tested positive for Alzheimer’s and the other positive for AIDS. We can’t tell which is your husband’s” “That’s terrible ! Can’t we repeat the test ?” questioned Mrs.Ward “Normally, yes, but Medicare won’t pay for these expensive tests more than once.” “What am I supposed to do now ?” “The people at Medicare recommend that you drive your husband in to the middle of town. If he finds his way home, don’t sleep with him !” th
