The President’s Diary Hello All A little different this week, particularly the last few days when all the fine weather disappeared and the heavy rain cleaned things up. Spare a thought for those in the north affected by flooding from the recent typhoon off the coast of Thailand. Last Tuesday night another superb Dinner Out organized by PP Arnaud at the Phuket Brasserie. Thank you Arnaud – fantastic venue with excellent food & service. Normally closed Tuesdays, the owner Belgian Alain Tabruyn and his lovely wife Kwanjai Wonglee made a special opening for RCoPB. A large group of thirty one enjoyed the night with good food and plenty of chatter. Visiting Rotarian from Belgium, Pascal De Corte asked to say a few words on the night. Pascal presented me with 1,500 Euros from his Rotary Club of Zottegem This donation is for BangJo school and is gratefully received. As acting treasurer I banked the above amount, resulting in 63,045 baht for BangJo. Thank you Pascal and the RC of Zottegem Some very exciting news was received a couple of days ago when Pat Michel – is now Pat Domville, yes Jim has finally been caught, or is it the other way round. Our very best wishes to you both Pat & Jim, the photos prove it actually occurred with the many smiles on this happy occassion. CONGRATULATIONS On this Saturday morning, as the rain tumbled down, PP Best and I attended the plate giving ceremony along with many other Rotarians from the clubs in Phuket. It is also the start of the vegetarian festival in Phuket. I might take a few photos This afternoon the Youth Exchange students arrived in Phuket, after a long bus ride from Nakhon Si Thammarat. It would be great if the weather clears for them to enjoy a few days in Phuket. PP Best accompanied by Able , Colin, three YE students, a chaperon and me enjoyed a wonderful dinner at No 1 restaurant in Chalong. A chance to get to know our visitors On Tuesday we have an excellent guest speaker from Kho Lak – Shark Guardian. Please come along and learn more of this interesting topic. It is always great to have knowledgeable guest speakers, and also have a good participating audience. BE THERE ! YIR
