Ladies beware when dancing My Rotary spies in Phuket have informed me that a certain Past President excelled at his dancing skills so much that his partner on the dance floor at The Hard Rock Café last Saturday night had to visit the hospital to take care of her broken left pinky finger -----------

Greetings from your President! Dear Fellows Rotarians and Friends, Greetings from your President who has just recovered!!! June 2011 What a great night!!! It took many of us the whole Sunday to get back on our feet again. Apologize for the hiccups here and there as part of the game. I think, however, that overall it was a smacking success. Still could not believe that I was actually singing on the stage at a Hard Rock Café!!! Fist time ever. Ladies and Gents, good dancing to that P’ Bird Tongchai‘s song. You did great. Anyone got any video footage??? Many thanks to PP Michael Massey, Rtn. Richard Jones, and Rtn. Michael Noir for heading up this event. The After Party at HRC was awesome. Big thanks to Admin Chair Denis for pulling off the history booklet CD just in time. He did a great job of capturing the past. Many good photos in there. Check it out. Thank you Rtn. Wolfgang and Rtn. Able for the venue and the PR, respectively. And thanks to all of us RCOPB Rotarians, family and friends who attended and who wish could attend. We had a lot of fun for you as seen in this bulletin. J A small golf tourney in the morning was also a blast. Thank PN George for organizing it. Thanks all the players who joined. All 14 players chipped in 100 thb for the Happy Hundred fund. All of the above shows that when WE, RCOPB, wants to get stuff done, it will be done. No matter what little time and resources we have. This is a commendation to everyone. All nine of RCOPB’s PPs showed up in full force. Chartered President Paiboon sent his regret. Many of the chartered members were present: Rtn. Larry, Rtn. Brad, Rtn. Boon, PP Neil, PP Sam, PP Arnaud, PP Woody, PP Jeroen, PP David, PP OB, etc. (Who did I miss??) Great to see chartered members at the 10th Birthday celebration. I could only imagine how proud they are after 10 years and going strong. I will have to wait my turn to experience such thing... J PP Surasak – the district representative who helped set up our club 10 years ago and his wife stayed until the end. They sure had a great time. Thanks for the support krub. Long drive and party hard into the night (mostly chocolate for Wally) proved to be no challenge for P Phillip, PP Adele and Rotary George Wally from RC Koh Samui. Thank you for coming. RC Phuket South and RC Phuket were the loudest at the back table while beautifully dressed ladies from RC Jungseilon showed off their footsteps at the front. RC Andaman led Volume 6 - Issue 10

by P Naran left to inspect HRC early, but only after draining a few bottles of red wines to start off the night. DGN Dr. Sa-nguan surprised the party by singing Bee Gee’s Massachusetts for RCOPB PPs. The guy has a nice voice!! P Weera, PP Dr. Toy, and Rtn Tanong of Tongkah spent some quality time at HRC and actually joined the Taquila shots frenzy with barely legal Aiden M. and Rtn. Michael N. It is worth mentioning that many of us can really move on the dance floor – Rtn. Andy and Ann Mel, Rtn. Richard J. and Ann Radi, Kh. Aew, Kh. Chai, etc. Only my wingman PN Richard A. and Rtn. Gerry stayed put at their seats. Must be either the music or too much beer… J Anyhow, rest well this week and come back strong on the 13 th when Rtn. Larry will give us a presentation of the long awaited club database. This database will enable us to better keep track of our club history and assist the fund raising effort, to name a few. A talk not to be missed krub. We shall as well commence on the Service Projects effort. New members are rubbing their hands ready to get down and dirty. Water drip filter project with D. 2000Switzerland rolled over from last year by Rtn. Brad will be the first in line to implement. He will give a talk about the project and demonstrate how to put the filter together. Our club also received 1,000 USD from D. 3330 as part of the District Fund. I don’t have a firm place where it should go yet. Ideas (and follow up actions J ) are welcome krub. That’s all for now, folks. I will be out of town for a few days. See you next week. YIR, President Best W.

RICK GARTLAND - FINAL REPORT FROM MICHIGAN Well, summer is coming to a close (though it is 95 degrees today) and Ann and I are making our final preparations to return to Asia. Luckily, I was able to participate in one final Gibraltar Rotary event and it turned out to be one of the best. The sun provided a beautiful, sparkling day down at the local marina where the Gibraltar Rotary held its annual Antique "Woodie" Boat Show. A fantastic array of these classics were on hand for all to admire, along with the ubiquitous Rotary Tiki Bar, t-shirts and hot dog stand. The warm day ensured healthy (?) beer sales and and tidy profit was realized by the club. One can only imagine the prices these rare boats realize. Please enjoy the photos and we will see everyone soon in Phuket!

ps - hope all Patong Rotarians enjoyed the 10th anniversary celebration!
