This week’s meeting – 17th May 2011 PE Best will chair his FIRST Club Assembly as he introduces his Board and officers for the Rotary Year commencing on July 1st. Make sure you come along and hear the planning for the new year including the Rotary International Conference in May 2012.

Next week’s meeting – 24th May 2011 Boon Pongchiboon is arranging a special speaker for the night. Boon knows a lot of high profile people in Phuket and the speaker will provide a lot of information for the members and guests – a particular help to the Expats living in Thailand

Youth Linc Group – from Salt Lake City UTAH - arriving on 17th June to 30th June and travelling to Phang Nga. A get together with the Youth Linc group is planned. Details to follow. LONDON ENGLAND 1993/1998 Retired from the Service in 1998 Taken on by SmithKline Beecham in London in the Corporate Security Department Many roles - physical risk assessments for all offices, manufacturing sites and personnel worldwide, risk travel advisories Represented SB on the anti-counterfeiting group PSI Merger 2001 with Glaxo Wellcome Left GSK in 2001 and moved to Cyprus

Private Security Companies Moved to Cyprus and covered the Middle East and the Mediterranean 2001-2004 doing physical risk assessments, due diligence and background investigations. Merger of companies with Universal Guardian in 2004 and this brought in the marketing of security related equipment. Moved to Dubai and provided security consultancy in the Middle East Moved to Thailand in 2009

There was some downtime (I guess one does not mess with Gerry Ed) An excellent presentation Part 1. Gerry then continued with a fascinating talk about counterfeiting products – I will include in a future Bulletin. Ed WOODY gave the vote of thanks to Gerry. Happy Hundreds - PP. Arnaud – PP. VOCATIONAL TRAINING (FORMER GSE) TO AUSTRALIA District 3330 has an exchange program for Vocational Training (former GSE) with Australia Queensland for this year for one month time period in October 2011. The vocational training has to do with water project, enviromental background in regard to water. Applicants shall be of age from around 25 to max. 40 years not a Rotarian or family Mr. Chaloemchat of Kanjanaburi is leader of team. Quite urgent as not sufficient applicants with the right pedigree. Any interest for applicants let me know (PP Sam Fauma) - DGN Dr. Sanguan Kunaporn or Thank you.

District Assembly – Phuket Town 6th – 8th May A good time was had at the District Assembly last weekend where new officers and others prepare for the Rotary Year commencing July 1. It was well organized with the English speaking clubs having their own tutors i.e. PP’s Sam & David - leading us in interesting and informative sessions. A special thank you to PP’s Sam & David for their excellent presentations. Even our new member Gerry (who was not a member when he participated) was involved.
