The Four Way Test Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIP? Will it be BENIFICIAL to all concerned?

For future Board meetings they will be held on the third Monday of each month Annual dues for the Rotary Year commencing 1st July are set at 6,000 baht . This will include the provision of a Rotary Club shirt with the current R.I. theme together with club cap. Rotary Club of Phuket will hold a fund raising event at the Phuket Brewery on Friday 17th July, 2009. Tickets are available from WOODY & David costing 1,000 baht. A renowned Thai comedy & singing group will provide the entertainment. P.P. Michael — The installation for the Koh Samui club will take place on 18th July, 2009. Members interested in joining a group to attend the evening from the club are assured of a most enjoyable weekend with the fun club of Koh Samui. Excellent prices are available for accommodation at the resort at heavily discounted price. Depending on numbers a minivan similar to the van the group used to go to Trang will be used. Please let Michael know if you would like to join a group to Koh Samui.

LAST WEEK’S MEETING - 7th JULY 2009 P.P. Sam advised that small group from the sister club of Central Damansara – Malaysia will arrive to attend the installation and sister club signing. A tour of Phuket will be arranged and also visit some of the night life areas of the area. If you can assist and like to join in—please see SAM Norman Dawkins—has been a teacher at the Phuket has been good to us foundation for some time. Recently the Director of Education resigned only providing one month’s notice. Fortunately a replacement was found in Carl Osmar Carl is a son of a Rotarian & his mother was in Inner Wheel—also a Rotary organisation. He has had a long association with WOODY’s Sandwich Shoppe. Carl has been involved in most aspects of education for thirty five years and has graduate and post graduate qualifications. Carl has lived in Phuket for three years and as a teacher of English and a TFL trainer The late Tom Mc Namara who had several businesses in Phuket wanted to give something back to the people who he loved and had been so helpful to him. Following the Tsunami on 26th December, 2004 Tom approached the school, which he had supported for some time and a meeting with the headmaster the English language program needed further development and support. The teaching of English would be a long term benefit to all in Phuket. From those early days at Kalim school. Employers were looking for people who could speak English . Not being to read English text was a disadvantage. After commencing at Kalim school a second school was introduced into the program at Kamala. One hundred and twenty resident children—post tsunami and other children disowned by their family were in the program. At weekends they go out to practice their English and enjoy interacting with other English speaking people. Larry gave a vote a thanks to Carl. Tom McNamara had a vision to help those who had been so good to him. The foundation’s objectives are more in line with Rotary. Thank you Carl for the post you have taken on.

Dates for your Diary

LAST WEEK’S MEETING - 7th JULY 2009 Who Am I With a dead heat to date with PP Arnaud & PP Michael on 10 points each the final showdown was required. After some reorganising of the tables it was decided that it would be a one on one contest without any assistance from other members at the table. SAA Richard gave out several clues—Arnaud shrugged his shoulders— who was it. Michael came through with the successful Who Am I as James Michener American author.
